Have been saying it for years, his boxing is incredibly underrated.
He has now outstruck Gus, Volkan, and Miocic. He was also doing very well leading up to the KO in the 2nd Jones fight.

Crazy considering his physical disadvantages. He is almost always at a height & reach deficit and still outstrikes some of the highest level strikers in MMA.

Dc was able to close the gap with jones and hit him which speaks volumes. Dc got caught but it was amazing while it lasted. JOnes is just to good.

Who is underrating his boxing?

Everyone's known he has good dirty boxing, a mean uppercut, and has KO power. The only criticisms of his boxing is his head movement when he disengages.

Everything about DC is underrated on Sherdog, because he is not the champion most wanted. When Sherdog dislikes a fighter, they are hyper critical to the point of blatant disrespect.

He's an athletic freak for being a bowling ball of a human being shape. Reach advantage doesn't bother the guy. He's so good at closing distance and unleashing crisp punches quickly.

Agreed, TS. Most don't give him the credit due. Even at LHW he had to overcome reach and height disadvantages with every guy. He said the last guy he had the advantage on was Jeff Monson in 2010. lol

Really? The only things I ever read about him are that Jones beat him (he did, and while he was juiced.. calling out Brock doesn't exactly help DC out there lol) and that the place was like 60-40 in favor of Stipe (which isn't that surreal, and also ironic considering Stipe is also criminally underrated) in this fight. Everything else I see leans towards DC beating everyone not named Jones at LHW.

This is excluding Jones shills opinions, btw.

Every guy on these boards who knows boxing, rates his boxing as great for mma.

He's one of the best in fighters in the game. Shorter guys could learn a ton from him.

DC is good in the clinch but his boxing looks awful outside of that. He walks towards his opponent like Frankenstein and Stipe looked like he was the superior striker before getting koed.

I like the fact that his opponents have trouble stopping him from grabbing their neck and eating uppercuts.

There's tons of people on here who have said his boxing is trash.

He's one of the best in-fighters in the sport. Not the most tactful ring cutter but he's a bulldozer

What were you watching? DC was dialed in and was piecing Stipe up before catching him on the clinch break. He was also able to roll with a lot of Stipe's shots.

DC has ok boxing. It's not under rated because the only people who say it's great don't know boxing. He looked pretty sloppy really, his movements look slow and awkward. His exits are strange. He caught Stipe sure.. He said his camp found a :eek::eek::eek::eek: in stipes game and he exploited it. In no way did he look like a top striker tho.

His boxing is solid, but it's accentuated greatly by the constant threat of the clinch and takedown. Without that threat it wouldn't be nearly as effective. With that said, his hand speed is solid and his technique is decent by MMA standards.

You want to give DC credit for doing well against Jones until the KO

Yet in the same breath want to ignore how Stipe was clearly out boxing DC until the KO

You're simply being biased.

And Gus arguably beat DC btw

If anything, when people make threads like this about DC, it's showing how over rated DC is.

Where is the thread for Strueve being one of the greatest ever? He also KOd Stipe.

AT BEST all you can say is that DC has "serviceable" boxing by MMA standards

Rarely ever sets things up. Zero combination punching. Jumpy to being fiented to the body. Bad habbit of always ducking in to his right. Not very well at cutting off the ring. Will often times find himself out of position after ducking or will step out of position. Zero countering game.

DC's bread and butter is Roman Greco clinch striking/dirty boxing

In fact by actual boxing standards, DC's boxing is down right fucking awful.

Stipe WAS out boxing DC until the eye poke

Im still disappointed by that result. I thought Stipe was going to be much more prepared for the clinch

Last night showed that Stipe did ZERO gameplanning for DC.

He's got much quicker hands than people realize especially at HW. He made Stipe look like a slow old man in terms of hand speed.
