How does he fare against the likes of prime Wandy, Shogun, Ninja, Murillo Bustamante (I know he was more of a MW, but for the sake of argument, will include him), Rampage, Arona, Lil Nog, Overeem, etc.

I got him beating all of them. What say you?

I say DC, Jones, Rumble and even Gustafsson would be too much for all those guys. Prime Shogun in Pride would give them a run for their money but IMO that's about it.

The big unknown in a lot of these fights(espeically Shogun, Lil Nog and Arona) would be sub grappling which I would say Cormier hasn't really been tested with.

Wrestling wise he would definitely cause all of them problems although equally I think they might cause him cardio problems, especially in 5 round or Pride length matches.

Dc, Jones, Gus & Rumble would beat all of them, the PRIDE LHW's are basically middleweights juiced to the gills.

Are we talking DC vs all of the Pride LHW's... at the same time?

In ring with pride rules? No elbows, no lnp (they will yellow card your ass), no grinding against the cage.

I say prime Shogun ko's him, Wand probably too.

Depends on the environment. DC is honed to the cage/unified system, 5 min rounds, no stomps/soccers and the judging, etc...

If Cormier was magically transplanted into Pride, he'd have to adjust significantly.

I reckon Rampage/Shogun/Silva and even Igor toward the end of his prime would be difficult match ups for Cormier in the ring under Pride rules

He could beat them all also, who knows. But it was almost a different sport compared to now

Depends, is he training with the same training and they're training with the same training they had? Are they moving up or is he moving back? What is the ruleset? The judging style?

It's hard to do generation vs generation matchups, the training is different, the trends are different, the entire way the game is approached is different. Igor Vovchanchyn is about as mobile and diverse a puncher there is at heavyweight even to this day, but would he have been that diverse of a puncher modern day? With fewer fights to learn what he likes to do and a more general training camp? These kinds of trends are important to consider context, and taking those away takes away significance

I think only Shogun would be able to give DC trouble and I say that as a 50/50.

DC was chasing down a very good striker in Gus. His striking, power, and stand up defense is no joke. I think he'd fair exceptionally well against Wandy or Shogun, and remember, DC's chin is battle tested and then some. I think Wandy or Shogun would get over zealous like they usually get, just like Rumble, make a wrong move, slip, etc., then DC grabs a hold, takes them for a ride, and GnP/grinds them out to a unanimous decision, or ref stoppage.

Remember the damage he did to a very strong Rumble from the top position? I think he could do the same to Wandy and Shogun, and break their will sooner or later. They'll be effectively done by the 2nd or 3rd, I believe, and that's all she wrote.

Of course, this is just my opinion. I respect yours.

These 3 would wreck his world in there prime.

Imo Cormier would beat all of these really easily. And I have to say that it is a bold statement to say that Hendo in his prime would wreck Cormier :D. I mean sure, Hendo was way out of his prime in their fight but seriously if a guy gets beaten the way Hendo did you probably shouldnt suggest things like that.

Prime Hendo, and Wandy would be a bitch to deal with for DC, but I think Chuck would be one his easier fights. I think he'd pull off a cleaner Rampage on Chuck, and have the red stop it in 3.

Remember, DC's stand up is a lot cleaner than Page and Chuck's, and his stand up defense is definitely more responsible, and fundamentally sound. And he has more dexterity, and versatility in his kicking game than both guys.

Out of those 3, I think only a prime Hendo would have a shot at beating him. He was so cagey and vicious in his prime, BUT, he was out grappled, and even mounted against Wanderlei Silva during his prime, so yes, I do agree that DC would probably do the same thing to a prime Hendo that he did to old man Hendo.

I just need to see more from him, just looks the same in all his fights . Lake of fighting just a lot of wrestling witch is good for the W but not to say he could beat killers like that

comier beats them all imo.Id like to see how he wouldve done against a prime machida though. Stylistically that would have been very interesting. He lacks the footwork to walk him down as weidman did.

You call them killers, but what makes DC not a killer as well? I think DC is more of the brute killer than either of those guys. The guys as strong as it gets, and he has brilliant technique to go along with his strength, and agility for his size.

Wrestling was secondary in PRIDE. He'd be a 2nd tier fighter behind the greats. He wouldn't be able to brawl with the top guys during the PRIDE era.
