Media Daniel Cormier on Club Shay Shay

ah yes Shannon that man who was forced to pay a onlyfans model $23 million

Great interview. They get into the real deep shit at the end

Some cliffs:

- Jon was the most talented
- Hendo hit the hardest / was like a block of concrete
- Barnett was similar to Jon in that he was looking to inflict damage every second of the fight from every angle / DC ignored his injuries in that fight while celebrating but as soon as he saw his mother post-fight he started crying from the pain just like he did after a fight when he was a little kid
- cool stories about his upbringing / about wrestling / about how money reveals what you were before you had the money because back then you just weren't capable of having the freedom/oppurtunity to express yourself fully
- Knock on Jon for telling him (DC) he couldn't compete vs Jon in his prime because of the age gap / but then Jon turns around and denies Tom while there was an age gap (doesn't "pay it back" by giving the chance)
- Why he is such a company man explained. After the first Jon fight they gave him a cool million despite losing / before that he was 85k per fight.
- Taking shots feels different in the gym now / knowing how he is past his prime feeling injuries after sparring. Said if they paid absurd money though he wouldn't care about being past it and would come back to make bank.
- His Mt. Rushmore is GSP / DJ / Khabib / then waffles on who he'd put in the 4th spot. Says steroids are disqualifying. Clearly being a good company boy by not mentioning Fedor and instead, with a straight face, mentioning Liddell or Couture lol

Loved his comments on Hendo:

Who Who hit you hardest? Probably Dan Henderson. That little dude. He was like he was made of concrete. Damn. Hendo. He hit so hard. He He hit me on He was on his back and he hit me and he uh knocked out one of my bottom teeth. I had to go to like an emergency dentist. Damn. On Labor Day or Memorial Day after he hit me from the bottom. He hit hard. Even from in close, he would just crazy.

It is a sexual predator's playground. Shannon Sharpe just paid out millions after sexually assaulting a very young woman.
You seem so very sure that this is what happened. Did you read all of the civil suit documents? Did you read all of the criminal trial documents?

Cormier is honestly not that bad. He's a UFC shill but so are plenty of guys. He's sometimes petty, he's eternally bitter (I don't blame him, I would too if I lost to an unrepentant cheat) and he's a late bloomer both in fighting and in commentating. But he's finding his way.

He seems like a funny, amicable, family man with strong character. I guess he doesn't have the bluster of a McGregor, Chimaev or the sex appeal that many seem to be looking for in an idol. But as a mentor, coach and athlete there is little more you could ask for.
I second this opinion. I’ve always thought that people vastly exaggerate how annoying Cormier is. He has his moments sure, but he strikes me as a cool guy overall.

It's that guy that had Katt Williams on. That infamous interview where he predicted the Diddy downfall and a couple of other things. That's when I heard about this podcast for the first time.

Also, as I mentioned plenty of times already, I can't stand Cormier, but here, he's not as annoying as usual.
I think people need to learn how to separate the actual person from the contrived character they might play on camera, whether it's a professional or promotional mask.

Most of these guys are way different in real life

DC's two drink limit shows pretty well at the end. Right when he starts going into "I love you man" with Shannon, you know he's lost in the sauce right there lol. it is a great interview though.

I always do my research before coming to conclusions.

He's still salty about it LOL

<mma1> <36>

It's so funny how much of a cornball ass brotha Jon is compared to his physical capabilities lmao

"I could live in your house if I wanted to."
"Jon I would shoot you dead in my foyer."
"Yea but if I home invaded you under unified rules you'd be fucked."

Blah blah Jon's huggers will talk about how he'd be some warlord 1000 years ago, but they forget that lab derived exogenous hormones weren't around back then.

DC is 100% right on his take, and it's the sensible one most fans of the sport probably have: that Jon didn't even need to take steroids and he would have maintained identical or similar greatness in his career.

I listened to it today. It was pretty cool.

Cormier is always great in interviews, he seems to naturally get on with people even with minimal interaction, it’s like he knew them forever. His Pivot interview is also great.

PS: It’s funny anytime a UFC fighter praises the UFC or doesn’t have Fedor as their all time great, they’re always considered shills and company men.
