It is pretty cringey when people do the haka outside of NZ and aren't not part of their culture. American Jason Momoa does this stuff but he isn't Maori. There are some schools that were doing it in America. There are videos of people doing it in weddings or hospitals outside of NZ. They also got remixes to the haka now. There was Gangnam style Haka done in Korea to promote culture etc etc.

I don't think NZ folks care as long as the haka is done respectfully but there is a weird line. Some dude in Brazil was doing it to promote his business class. Most of the American sports schools doing it are just parroting what they saw on youtube. I think some of the schools stopped doing it and used dances from their own culture instead.
