So Dana said in his last scrum that Yair turned down fights and that's why he got cut.
If it's that easy to get dropped from the UFC why did they keep Al Iaquinta after he turned down multiple fights and openly insulted Dana and the UFC?

It's obvious why there keeping Nick and Conor despite there refusal to take fights. There big draws. But the Yair and Al thing is puzzling.

You could say that maybe there was tension behind the scenes, but could things get anymore tense between a fighter and org than Al vs the UFC?

Yair has double the social media following and has a WHOLE country supporting him.

What's with the preferential treatment?

I have a feeling they wouldn't cut Yair if he had a whole country behind him.

Dana wanted to make an example because Iaquinta, Conor and many others in the past have done it for too long. I imagine he hopes this will put others in check but we'll see.

Hard to explain why you fired someone who was complaining of unjust treatment. Al was arguing pay.

Easy to explain when the guy is not complaining but also not taking fights. Yair didnt complain about pay. He just didnt take the fights offered.

Well he kinda did bring up pay as the reason they cut him. He wanted more money to fight Zabit in Russia or LA. They cut him swiftly after that.

Iaquinta has 200 pound of calf muscle horsemeat behind him.

New York is a way bigger market for UFC, Crossfit, fitness & Boxercise than Mexico.

New York's economy is like South Korea's or Australia's. A middle class market for a middle class sport.

Well he has bigger social media presence than Al. He even has 20k more twitter followers than golden child Sage.

I'm not a fan of non draws demanding better pay, but Yair has a following. He's young and exciting to watch. This wouldn't be the first time the UFC have adjusted a contract. They even bumped up the pay for fighters coming off a loss.

Pay the guy what he's worth.

Dana came out and has admitted to preferential treatment. You can’t compare apples to oranges. Yair has no leverage and is under contract while turning down fights. Al, if I’m not mistaken was money issues, and Nick doesn’t want to fight, but is still under contract. While Conor never has to fight again, but if he does $$$, which is way he can pretty much do what he wants.

Its because Dana and Trump have ties and Yair is Mexican.

th

Iaquinta has nothing on the Diaz brothers and they are not just kept around, but given big fights

Yair got beaten to a bloody pulp in a high profile fight

Al didn't

Yair bought fake followers. Look at his follower to likes ratio. Hes not a draw.

Why is everyone so infatuated with social media numbers? You do realize that you hire a marketing company and they add social media followers, most aren't even real. I thought most understood this already.

Yair and Al is a pretty fair compariosn as there both at similar stage in the career. I made a point to NOT compare the Diaz's and Conor as they are on completely different levels in there career.

I personally don't give a shit, but Stipe and Bonnor have both stated that the UFC would push fighters based on there social numbers. The UFC demanded that every fighter get an account. I'm not the one that cares about numbers, it's the UFC. But in this case they don't seem to care.
