Dana will be having a good ol' laugh this weekend

Nah most people are they just dont wanna be politically incorrect
So if people don't agree with you, they still agree but are affraid to speak out? That's like saying you actually like wmma, but want to act cool by saying you hate it. I guess you should trust other peoples opinions more. I personally prefer heavy weightclasses, but I really dont care if I see Karate Hottie or Pentoja to be honest.

Not enjoying women's sports is now sexist?

I don't watch the WNBA either, is that morally abhorrent as well?

You don’t have to like it. I NEVER SAID anything about having to like it. Please do not make stuff up.

What I am opposed to are the demeaning jokes and condescending attitudes about the female athletes.

Yes they are terrified

Have you ever heard of the False Consensus effect?

The false consensus effect, also known as consensus bias, is a pervasive cognitive bias that causes people to “see their own behavioral choices and judgments as relatively common and appropriate to existing circumstances”.

In other words, they assume that their personal qualities, characteristics, beliefs, and actions are relatively widespread through the general population.

This bias is especially prevalent in group settings where one thinks the collective opinion of their own group matches that of the larger population. Since the members of a group reach a consensus and rarely encounter those who dispute it, they tend to believe that everybody thinks the same way.

Additionally, when confronted with evidence that a consensus does not exist, people often assume that those who do not agree with them are defective in some way

You are 100% right. I don't care if people like or dislike wmma. It's the childish crap that annoys me. But I guess it's cool to be demeaning these days, instead of respecting the hard work these fighters have done to get in the UFC. Like whatever you want, but show some respect please.

We all know how it went preparing this card:

Staff in meeting months ago:. "Ok so we got Conor v Poirier worked out...now we need the other main card fights."
Dana in the meeting:. "What if...(chuckles)...what if...(laughs)...hear me out now...what if we put Jessica Eye...against Joanne Calderwood ...in third spot...!" (Bursts out laughing)

Staff looks at him confused.

Dana:. (Giggling) "But that's not all....what if...we put Amanda Ribas v Rodriguez....on the same main card!" (Giggles hysterically)

Good ol' uncle Dana.
<Oku01> Pure evil

That's basically how psychology (the study of) works. Its just projection. WMMA is garbage and anyone who likes it is a disgusting cuck.

It's not respecting it that is sexist. Like whatever you want, nobody will/should judge that. But the crap people here post when it comes to wmma is just pathetic.

McGregor sells over 1 million PPVs no matter what.

There's no incentive for them to make a solid card (although you would think if you have a guaranteed audience you would want to display a premium product)

I'm sure you feel that way. When you get older, you will see not all women are evil. You might get a few more rejections, but that's cause woman prefer a disgusting cuck over an angry sexist. You will learn, I'm sure

They have bigger goals in mind than one premium product. And those bigger plans include keeping WMMA, because with it they can fill 45-50 cards per year (for which they get very handsomely paid by their customers; ESPN and other outlets) and without it they cannot.

I don’t care if anyone disagrees with the above sentence - it’s what UFC thinks and therefore it’s all that actually matters. And the difference between your (the royal you, not just kelleir) opinion and their is that they have marketing figures and millions of man-hours to back up their opinion, and you (the royal you) don’t.

All ya’ll that were going to buy this card still will. None of ya’ll that were going to stream it if it were lackluster would have changed your mind and purchased it if it were better quality. Lie to girls but don’t lie to yourself; you would not buy this PPV “if only it were a better product”.

Quit debating this issue from the perspective of a fan. You aren’t even the customer (as I said above, ESPN is). And if you were Dana, you wouldn’t dump WMMA today.

People write crap on here about all fighters, especially if they display a substandard skill set... For example, CM Punk was absolutely dragged through the coals after his performances. I don't think WMMA should be immune to this.

It's similar to the almost completed distain for the "manlet" division, unfortunately there's no white knights (height knights?) for the little fellas.

I wasn't shitting on WMMA so I'm not sure what inspired the monologue.

Objectively the card is weak and they don't need to book fighters who can help sell another card when 257 is going to be one of their most profitable this year anyway.

The product has been diluted for years, because UFC realised a long time ago its casual fans who buy largest chunk of PPVs and they won't care if the card is stacked down to the prelims. McGregor's cards just tend to be the pinnacle of this corporate philosophy. The undercard is as weak almost as a boxing PPV

You and I agree.

I didn’t mean to single you out - was just taking your quote and running with it. Hence the “royal you” statements.

But I don’t know why I bother. Most sherdoggers seem to begin and end their thought process with “Dana should end WMMA because I don’t like it.” I’ll never have an intellectual discussion with them.

Then again, I could tone down on the pretentiousness too.

Cheers.

I mean, not to be a dick, but the card blows. It will do fine because of the Connor douche crew, but I can't imagine buying a PPV with two WMMA fights on the main card.
ottoman, arman, mini gastelum, hooker, dustin, chandler, same card, but it sucks, what?! come on man. it's not the best card, no it's not. 258 cleveland steams it but it's decent.

Fair enough.

But then why are Ribas and Rodriguez getting dragged? They are good martial artists that have have good fights. They don't deserve it.

I didn't read beyond the first line so probably

The point is that people have an irrational tendency to vastly overestimate how many people share the same opinions that have.

In this case, your distaste for WMMA which you assume is commonplace opinion that most secretly hold. That’s a irrational consensus to come to because there isn’t a way to account of secret opinions

This cognitive bias is commonplace in echo chambers like Sherdog. Where one thinks the collective opinion of their own group matches that of the larger population. An assumption that rarely is true

And when people, in this case you, are presented with the notion that their “false consensus” may not be true that people often assume that those who do not agree with them are defective in some way. This sentiment was demonstrated by you saying “ WMMA is garbage and anyone who likes it is a disgusting cuck.”
