September 27th, 2016
-Alvarez vs. McGregor at UFC 205 is announced

September 27th, 2016
-Nurmagomedov says he was used during the negotiations.

October 31st, 2016
-Nurmagomedov's father says his son was used to lower the purse-cost by $4 million.

Exhibit B: GSP return.

July 9th, 2016
-Dana White was quoted as saying:
"Georges St-Pierre will not fight again," White told the media following the UFC 200 weigh-ins on Friday (via Fight Network). "I've said that before, and I'll say it again. Georges St-Pierre is done. He is retired and he will not fight again. I've dealt with him, and we've been dealing with this thing. I've been in this since I was 19-years-old. I know the mentality of a fighter that wants to fight and I know the mentality of a fighter that does not want to fight.

"He's been saying [he wants to return] for a long time. I wholeheartedly believe you will never see Georges St-Pierre in the Octagon again, unless he's cornering somebody."

October 17th, 2016
-GSP proclaims that he's a free agent.

November 30th, 2016
-GSP and others announced the creation of MMAAA.

-On the same day, the UFC contacted GSP to restart negotiations.

February 17th, 2017
-Dana White makes GSP's return official (despite previously claiming that you'd never see him in the Octagon ever again).

Exhibit C: White rewarding Dillashaw for backing out of MMAAA (pure speculation).

June 5th, 2017
-According to Johnson, when he was contacted about fighting Dillashaw back when Garbrandt got injured, White came across more like a manager for Dillashaw as opposed to the President of the UFC:
Completely unrelated — and after the accepted fight vs. Ray Borg — Cody Garbradt injured his back and TJ Dillashaw said he wanted to fight me. Dana told me he wanted me to fight TJ, which I disagreed with for multiple reasons. First, TJ has never fought at flyweight and is unlikely to make the weight, which would then eliminate the possibility of breaking the title defense record. Second, they have already told me that a fight between Cody and I wouldn’t be sellable, so fighting TJ would have no monetary upside. Third, TJ is not a flyweight or a current champion in another weight class and was KO’ed by the flyweight whom I beat twice already. Last, Ray Borg and I already agreed to the fight, which UFC tyrannically demanded, while denying me any future PPV points.

After telling Dana my reasons, Dana angrily told me that I am fighting TJ, once again, with no other option or say in my career, and against the plans we had previously laid out. He went on further to say that if I didn’t take the fight against TJ, and drop Borg as the opponent, he would get rid of the entire flyweight division. He said, this is for TJ and I’m taking away TJ’s opportunity. That fact that he feels that what I should do in my career is for TJ, tells where his priority lies.

If you look at how negotiations changed with GSP, and given how White had tried to convince Aldo not to join a union, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that White would make some assurances/promises to Dillashaw if he dropped out of the MMAAA.

In Conclusion:

Dana White and the UFC saying that Johnson is scared of Dillashaw, not crazy about the fight, or unable to compete because of his injury, is par for the course in how they negotiate contracts. And keep in mind, these are just recent examples that I could recall off the top of my head. I'm sure if I looked back further I could see the telltale signs of negotiation going on between the UFC and any number of fighters.

at this point I think the UFC is ducking legitimacy.

Mighty Rat is ducking anyone with a shot of beating him. DC is going up,RDA went up, Max was willing to go up,Connor went up. Mighty Rat is the only champion that not only refuse to go up (even though he started there) and refuses to fight someone coming down.

Johnson called out Cruz in 2016, wanted to fight Garbrandt but was told that fight isn't marketable, and yet he's a duck? <Lmaoo>

According to Ariel, DJ asked for 500k to fight TJ and the negotiations went to

what evidence is there that exhibit A wasn't simply that the ufc wanted khabib for eddie and both eddie and conor played the ufc to get the fight they both wanted and got paid more for it?

Perhaps because they got paid less than they asked.

i dont think dana is a saint but its quite clear dj duckin. hes been ducking everytime he gets questioned about it from day 1

500k for a fight champ Vs champ at a upper weightclass seems fckng reasonable (I would even Say Underpaid)

It's a clear underpayment in terms of revenue generated, but the UFC obviously holds a clearly exploitative upper hand in negotiations.

Clearly; that's why he was completely open to negotiate the fight.

UFC = U Fight Cheap

It’s amazing to me how most of you call out Dana’s BS about fight related stuff yet still always believe everything the UFC says over the word of the fighters.

You people are the definition of a UFC shill.

he basically asked for 2mill which doesnt make any sense.

He has said two million in the past (which isn't actually wholly absurd for someone with his competitive clout to ask for relative to what revenue the fight would generate, but that's another conversation). Recent indications were that he was asking for less than a million, which is beyond reasonable. Honestly, what looks like the most realistic thing is that the UFC denied Dillashaw the chance after he decided to not take a short notice fight against Garbrandt.

It's pretty crazy that people are claiming Johnson in ducking. If a promoter in boxing tried to play their fighter like the UFC have tried to do Johnson, the fanbase would dismiss any chance of ducking. Of course, I do get that Johnson probably has more detractors than fans in the MMA fanbase for very bizarre reasons, but really, this is getting absurd.

My take on it is this is DJ's way of being a pain in the ass to the UFC for slighting him through the years.

It's no secret he has felt and rightfully so on some level not being treated like other champs (just one example was no PPV pts up until recently I believe). DJ knows this is probably the biggest fight he is ever going to get. So he is trying to make it count in the money department.

I really think its as simple as that.

its completely absurd and makes no sense. and if he really wants 2mill he needs to mayweather it up and promote the fight than.

Explain to me how it's completely absurd.
