He didnt let him go cause he thought he sucked or was washed he just didnt want to pay Mousasi what he wanted.

Mousasi could have staid in UFC won a fight or two more and then lost to Whittaker. WHats the difference? Some guys/girls the UFC will keep, others they wont. They'll let some go cause they feel they are on downside and others just dont think they are worth what they want.

UFC looks at what they are currently paying an athlete and what they will have to pay him when contract renews! They bought his contract off of Pride and Pride was probably paying him more than the UFC thought he was worth.....so they let him go. It happens
