You’ve heard of them banning card counters but differentiate that from winning? Card counting isn’t some illegal thing. It’s your ability to problem solve. Now you would have a point if he was using a computer to do it.
 
I spent 15 years working in the Caesars / Harrahs marketing department. Look up Terrance Wantanabe, who blew threw the Oriental Trading fortune and ending up being sued for his markers. The accusations start to fly when that kind of money is on the line.

You just keep a running tally of what cards are left in the deck. Certain cards are -1, some are 0, some are +1. When the deck becomes very positive, it is in the players odds that they will win a hand and they should start betting more heavily.

There was a movie 21 that a group of MIT did this. They would have a group play together just to make it not obvious that one person was situationally betting heavily when the deck went positive, which looks like card counting to a house..

This is a really good story about a church group that went to casino's to raise money for their church by county cards. Listen to them describe it and it is very much just like a boring job.

Im starting to think it's a form of marketing casinos use to get more biz. "Don't you dare count cards, cause you'll win millions from us. Card counting totally works and we'll kick you out for it. Now come gamble."

Wow cheers for going beyond with the reply. I actually forgot to type how it did remind me of the film and shiiii I feel like rewatching now. I member there was a happy end if it getting really bad for a bit for the hero ha ha. That, together with the church of count article should get me my update. Noice.

Yea the goof is a talented gambler, especially with Blackjack. Dana gets alot of shit but hes a very smart guy, you dont build a company like the UFC by accident.

It takes some real business skills, brains and grit to push forward. Theres a reason why WME was very intent on making sure Dana stayed when they bought UFC. They gave him a crazy payout and locked him in for 5 years. Actually think they extended his contract a while back too...

You can't have a win every night counting cards, that is statistically impossible too. He has to count cards, edge sort and not play that often, because mistakes get made doing both those things at once.

Yes I agree Dana absolutely carries a lot of value himself just due to the way he runs things, his complete disregard for corporate norms, almost zero (apparent!) diplomacy, but he knows how to make the business money and its clearly worked for 18yrs or whatever its been so yes its important from a business perspective to retain Dana White.

They let him do as he wants cos he gets RESULTS, and at the end of the day it's a business and that's all that matters to the owners WME-IMG.
 
Its gotta be nice - even in the year 2021- to win an amount of money where you can live off the interest to the average person .......and it s rather meaningless to Dana White. I wonder how much hed have to win to get him " excited".

Either way, if he does have that skill - good for him. I cant begrudge a man for that

No, I think he was limited on how much he could play because he was winning to much.

Anyone that gambles big money has taken big losses, but I think he is known for leaving the casinos with garbage bags of cash.

I remember him on another video clip years ago relating that exact story : he won I think 6 million dollars in one night and he said him and a couple of friends literally left the casino with several black garbage bags witb 6million in cash. They hopped in a car really fast as I recall as obviously it's not exactly safe.......
