Media Dana White annouces there will be 4 "big" events a year under new deal

now they can be more flexible... with having 1 big title fight after joe shmoe vs john doe who the fook is that guy fights from start up till the co-main. The mediocrity can all blur together. They won't have to worry about things like "is this a PPV worthly fight or a fight night fight." They can book matches more freely... probably in a bad way

Instead of 50 events per year anything is an improvement. The UFC for the last 5-6 years is quantity over quality.

They peaked events in 2014 which was clearly overkill and they've been hovering in the low 40s for a while. Regardless it is way too many given the interest levels in the talent pool and if ESPN wasn't footing the bill on PPVs with guaranteed money they probably would be doing no more than 39 events a year similar to 2017/2018 or even lower. 2019 is when ESPN took all the PPVs and you notice the events went back up that year to 41.

Wasnt it supposed to be 13 numbered events per year? As in what currently is being offered as PPV.

Before we start slinging compliments and excitement around for "4 big cards" a year (lol!), let's remember that there were years when both the UFC and Pride pretty much had monthly "big cards". Our standards have just dropped.

I think the number of events is fine!

Just have less fights per card to off set it. that way they can fill up TV slots weekly but instead of 6 hour slot just make it' 4 1/2

Absolutely. If this means four truly stacked cards and the rest is watered down shit then I'll take it as well. That way you KNOW that every year you'll get four sick cards at least.
100%. at this point i'd take 4 events a year if they were tip to tip bangers

Yeah probably. And as long as people tune in to at least part of it, which they probably will considering it's basically free now, it will count as a view

Yeah it doesn't seem like there's anything to really distinguish a PPV from a Fight Night anymore at least not price wise. Basically, there will be no incentive to "stack" a PPV card when it won't be worth any more than a typical Fight Night card. They were already doing this to an extent under the ESPN deal since they were getting a flat fee per PPV and the number of buys didn't really matter, so you got 1 or possibly 2 title fights then the rest of the card was watered down. Why stack it if it there's no difference between 1 million buys or 500k? This new deal should make it even worse.

They still want viewership numbers too and are gonna slam it with ads. Its not strictly gonna be about subs especially considering alot of the numbered events are on CBS too. Stacking a card means more viewership and more ad revenue. So numbered events should be notably better if they play it right.

I'm afraid big will probably mean one midget title fight + one WMMA title fight and 3 mediocre fights with big name past their prime veterans.

Yeah, can't trust the goof's word on this at all. At the very least the first few cards they do maybe the whole first year I believe they will do incredible cards because they can't start off the new deal with something lukewarm. I would hope.

I wonder what it would be like to be a fighter see this deal and no one gets paid more. They dont even care where they fight or the money getting paid. The ufc is the worst promotion to be an athlete in

UFC @ The WhiteHouse
UFC @ The Acropolis
UFC @ The Grand Canyon
UFC on The Moon

It's a nebulous claim. Do they mean 13 numbered events a year of which 4 will be "stacked"?

We excited about a good card every 3 months now ….. wow

Well these cards will be stacked to the tits. I mean 10/10 card.

How many 10/10 cards can you make in a year?

The average fighter in the UFC fights 2x a year, maybe 3x a year?

You have only so many elite fighters that highly ranked that can fight in a year.

So basically you can only make a handful at best super cards in a year.

Sorry for saying 'a year' so much. lol

I think this means we’ll have 4 stacked cards. Numbered events will be on par with how most are now. Fight nights similar. I don’t think it will be all that different in terms of card quality.
