Dana: "We're Getting Rid of Early Weigh Ins"

Good move. Hope they go back to weighing in on stage at the weigh in show. It used to create a bit of buzz for the fights.

Good move. Now they need to start deducting points for fighters who miss weight as an additional deterrent.

Imagine them dragging a near death Till to the scale in front of an entire audience.

yeah, thats what he said. they will be going back to making that the official weigh in.

How about move them back by a few hours instead of having them Friday morning.. have them at like 7 PM on Thursday night.

This way everyone can do them from the day of starting early morning and no more going to bed all screwed up or having to rush the next morning.

Plus more time to eat a good meal and have those fluids recover you better. This will do real help for fighters safety.

This would just encourage fighters to cut even more weight

I always found the early weigh-ins to be more exciting than most UFC fights.

I'm sitting there watching, waiting for the card to completely fall apart.

Good move on the UFCs part.

So with no morning weighins how about moving the only weighin to earlier in the day instead of like 7pm

They actually should move weigh in to the DAY of the fight.

Yes more fighters have missed weight but a lot of those fighters are repeat offenders so I think a lot of the problem lies in the fighters themselves by that I mean just undisciplined / Huge fighters who probably shouldn't be in that weight class in the first place

Ok put restriction then, have fight night scales (like NY commission does for their own data) and put something like for example if you are a WW (170) then on fight night you can't come in bigger then 195 lbs for their own safety and if you violate that rule then next fight you are booked at a higher weight class.

This way you let them brains get better hydration and the fighter gets better recovery from the weight cut itself cause we have no freaking idea what happens to someone doing this shit for to many years and getting hit in the head.

In boxing weight cutting is done on lower scale then wtf is happening in MMA.. very rarely you will see someone cut 25-30 lbs nope they cut less and they like their fluids and more effort is put on cardio.. in MMA the grappling aspect with size and strength makes our guys cut more.

Why not just implement the system that One FC does and get rid of weight cutting altogether and force fighters to fight at their walk around weight? Of course, they will be tested multiple times for weight and hydration. Failure to do this will result in additional testing.
