How did he win round one? Striking Stats were similar but Hendricks landed the more impact full blows. As well as more control time.

And there was talk about GSP's belt for the Hendricks fight being taken away by the UFC without asking while he was in the shower. Normally fighters get to keep each new belt for each title defence.

The whole debacle was an absolute embarassment for Dana and the UFC.
 
If I recall correctly, Uncle Bald said he rewatched the fight in the days afterwards and believed it was closer than he initially thought. It's Uncle Bald though so who knows what he actually thinks.

For some reason, I just can't see Dana White, even back then, taking the time to rewatch a 25 minute fight.

It was about money, in the contract GSP was supposed to defend the belt if he won it and keep fighting. He just retired all over again and that's why Dana wouldn't let him fight De La Hoya. Dana will over look things if it makes sense financially, just look at everything that happened with Tito Ortiz throughout the UFC. But if you try to play him he'll take that personally and will do the same. GSP knew what he was doing, he shouldn't be surprised that Dana didn't allow him to fight De La Hoya. He's smarter than that lol.
