He did not turn it down for the money. It was everything else, he feels the contract structure is unfair, treating the fighters with all the constraints of being an employee and none of the benefits. But he turned down 8 million a fight. I doubt PFL or Bellator are going to beat or even match that (when Francis is looking for a lot more IMO probably 15-20 million).
I don't know what he will do next, but in MMA, he will fight for much less than 8 millions.
I am also thinking about excellent fighters who are headlining PFL, Bellator, KSW. Guys like Parnasse, Nemkov or AJ MC Kee who make several hundred thousands per fight but would drop to less than 100k in the UFC (for tougher competition). There are some better options for particular fighters, but they are the ones the UFC are happy to let walk and have some else pay overs for them. For the UFC champs I don't think there are really better options.
But yes, for UFC champs (not all, some are not paid well), UFC is the place.
