Media Dana shuts down Francis ever returning

is that the original? I actually never knew where that meme started lol
I don’t watch to many movies

When the UFC gives you the best offer, by a wide margin, and you still don't accept, then you're just playing fucking games.

The UFC offered Ngannou what he was worth.
They should be more interested in having the biggest fights and less interested in a dick measuring contest with their former employees. Everybody knows the biggest fight out there for Jones and possibly the sport is the Francis fight.
So they will happily let the fans down If Francis wanted back in ? Screw us out of that spectacle just to power move Frank? That couldn't sound any pettier

So if you ever turn down their offer and choose to test free agency then you are banned forever. And they claim they are not/ trying to put a stranglehold on the sport by being a monopoly?

This isn’t a good post. There are many, many companies in the world that won’t want you back if you quit, even if you don’t talk shit on them in the process.

Also, every company endeavors to be a monopoly. We (observers who aren’t all up in their emotions) claim that the UFC isn’t a monopoly, because it’s not.

According to Dana...
I don’t trust anything Dana says, but Francis as of now is not fighting and has been open in interviews saying it isn’t about money.

It has been a while, but he had an interview with Ariel where he explained what his position is, he doesn’t think the entire UFC business model is fair… things like healthcare, and being an indecent contractor, but not being able to fight anywhere else… which he is 100% right about, but he isn’t in a position to change it.

Everyone else just takes the most money they can and accepts it isn’t necessarily fair, but what can you do… at a certain point you’re just shooting yourself in the foot.

If the fighters don't fight for change then no one else will.

For what it’s worth, I don’t necessarily think it was bad faith/playing games. I think Francis just misjudged the marketplace and overplayed his hand. He’s a giant KO machine who sees all sorts of money flying around for guys like Fury/Wilder/Joshua, McGregor, and even YouTube boxers. You can see how he could’ve have been talked into thinking there were big options out there for him. Especially if his knees are going and he’s older than we think, I don’t blame him for pushing the envelope a bit. But it’s looking more and more like he misread the situation.

Best offer in terms of what? Money? Francis wants to box. The UFC wouldn't let him do that.
Most people don’t get, or can’t believe the whole issue isn’t about money

I respect Francis, if everyone had his mentality the UFC would have to give the fighters a better deal… but they don’t

If Francis ends up never fighting again, or fighting for a B tier promotion for a fraction of the money he would’ve made he’s just losing for no reason other than pride right? Nothing actually changes, nobody actually cares, Francis will just be in a worse position in life for no reason.

Right and Jon Jones will never headline another UFC card and women will never fight in the UFC...

I’m not trying to be a smartass but I don’t really know what “fair” means when people say this. They punch people in the face for a nice living.

They’ve tried to change their behaviour so they don’t lose the antitrust suit but Dana just can’t help himself. Francis had the audacity to turn down their offer and then when Dana wanted him to lose so he could cut him, Francis had the audacity to win. That type of shit Dana can’t tolerate. Now it’s personal.

The whole issue IS about the money though. He wanted to be able to box because you make a lot of money in boxing. He wanted healthcare because healthcare costs money. If the UFC would have offered him $30,000,000 he would have signed.

If all he wanted to do was box, he’s free to box right now. Why isn’t he doing it? Because he wants lots of money to do it.

And all this is fine, you’re allowed to try to maximize your earnings. But pretending this is about something else is silly to me.

Why would not having the best HW on the world in your roster hurt your argument that you aren’t a monopoly?
