Dana has touched on his shitty fighter pay a few times. Currently Dana has earned more from the UFC than all the fighters combined.

{<jordan}

He says it's to keep fighters grounded and wanting to fight (for the fans of course) but now we have a situation where people are training to kill themselves because there is hardly any money if you're not champ.

Cain has a terrible injury history but he did say after his last fights that him and DC were changing how they approached training - to minimise risk of injury. Cain obviously has seen the bottom line that's at stake if he doesn't become champ again and has over trained once again. Injuries will never improve until the pay does, it's the only way to give fighters peace of mind.

While there is some truth to what you say, most of it involving cain was just bs.

The fact is mma is full of so many con men and bro science guys because mma is so new and people are still trying to figure the best way to train for it.

You have bro scientists like Dolce who is handling the nutrition of some of the best people in the sport, and why?because he used Wikipedia? They should have trained dietitians.

Also just watch half of the fighters strength and conditioning routines, its amateur hour and there basically begging for serious back injuries etc

Dana pays fighters that do not DIRECTLY bring revenue into the company as a result of the unique to MMA policy of allowing their contracted fighters to train unlimited at unaffiliated facilities that have zero financial liability to the UFC for these contracted fighters health!

ALL MMA fighters under UFC contract that DO NOT directly earn the UFC revenue, ARE the most grossly overpaid "?athletes?" on EARTH.

Either Dana, and the UFC need to assume 100% full control of training of EVERY fighter under UFC contract, or the fighters NOT bringing in revenue should make minimum wage to PAY psychopaths to train them!

That IS the definition of "amateur" and the opposite of "professional".

See how much the NFL would be paying their players if the league had zero control over their valuable commodities training!

You know theres 100s of athletes in every major sport that barely even play but make millions cause they 'made it' to the biggest stage of their profession....

The only difference is mma fighters actually have to fund their own training and have to participate EVERY TIME they want to get paid. So yea dude, pretty terrible argument.

In other sports it seems like the more money they pour into training, the more time athletes spend being injured.

What a dumb post. There isn't an individual sport in the world where the professional organization oversees the athletes training. Do you think Roger Federer is training like an amateur because ATP doesn't run his training?

Ronda gets paid high and always seems to be hungry. For burgers.

prove that trained dietitians will have better results than Dolce

or is it just a hunch you have?

I don't think anyone (sane) has ever advocated that fighters that put more butts in seats shouldn't get paid more than journeymen.

Dana's whole "pay them low/keep them hungry" methodology falls apart when you consider this is a COMBAT SPORT where guys basically put their health on the line every time they fight, to say nothing of training.

Expecting them to realistically be able to compete for less money than it costs to run a training camp is ridiculous.

This is like not giving your girlfriend orgasms to keep her horny. It might work for a little while, but eventually she will start to bang other dudes.

So I am confused. What I highlighted IS the entire point!

That is EXACTLY where the Dana/ UFC need to assume 100% full control of training of the fighters under contract.

My premise is NOT as "headkicktoleg" suggests that Dana "Personally" take hands on responsibility for individual UFC fighter training. It is that ALL training of UFC contracted fighters would be contractually legally financially liable to the UFC for damages to fighters in training resulting in fight cancellations.

There would be a fraction of the "pull-outs" that currently occur with the contracted fighters training in unaffiliated facilities under zero financial liability to the UFC.

This strategy has not worked well for Hendricks or Gastelum

when will you guys understand that the world isn't fair?
we live in a capitalistic society, not a socialist society. you have to work hard to get rewarded, and that is what motivates everyone to work harder than their peers.

"keep them hungry"

AAAHAAAAAAAHAAAA that's some of the funniest shit I heard in the past 2 mins.

Hahaha what a dumb thing to say. You're like those idiots back in the day who wouldn't believe the world was round because there was no proof.

"Prove that there's no heaven." Come on man!

I work with a guy like that. The poor guy is just sick all the time. He gets the flu, stomack aches, headaches, and has pains all over that prevents him from going to work. After every holiday, the unlucky guy gets food poisoning, and stays in bed for a week. Every school holiday, when his children are home, he gets sick too.
Even when he is at work, the poor guy can hardly sit in front of his computer, because of his knees and back hurts so much. His body is just shot, just like Cains. I feel so sorry for them.

Sounds like a really good idea to just pay him more. Why didn't I think of that before?

Mike Dolce has helped many fighters successfully make weight, several of them UFC champions
