Actually training in camp and fighting real professional fights at the highest levels is MUCH HARDER.

That's under normal conditions. Now throw in the fact that he doesn't have a visa, can't travel, caught covid, had a family member die etc...

Then three times a year sounds even more difficult.

I'm not making excuses for him. Just saying they are independent contractors and are not required to fight 3x per year.

If everything is good, I'd say twice a year is reasonable but ultimately that decision is in their hands - not mine.


We should expect to see an increase in his schedule if he becomes champion because now the organization and division are waiting for him.

Then I think it's fair to complain - still not sure about 3 title defenses per year but at least 2 would be nice.

I understand all of that. I don't think three times a year is that insane. Eight week camps used to be the standard. Don't see why that couldn't be the case anymore. Gives plenty of time to prepare and peak. Gives plenty of time to unwind after.

The UFC doesn't hold fighters to the same schedules though. Guys like Aljo are told to vacate if they're injured and other guys can hold divisions up indefinitely. Khamzat is too useful to strip, so it'd just be another belt held up.
