Dana blaming Yamasaki for the UFC's ineptitude is absolutely pathetic.

UFC's main priority these days is NOT putting on good fights. Their priority is cherry picking certain people with marketing potential, and giving them preferential match making to try and turn them into stars.

We've seen it with Conor Mcgregor, Sage Northcutt, Ronda Rousey, Page VanZant, Colby Covington, and now Valentina.

Despite being fairly attractive, Valentina doesnt appear to be clicking well with the fans. So they purposely matched her with someone who has little fight experience and little technical skill because they wanted to use the fight as a showcase for her and try to increase her appeal.

Well, they got what they wanted, and now that it's time to pay the piper, they're trying to cover up their tracks by blaming the ref.

230 - 3. Mario's fault? Sounds more like a squash match, than bad reffing.
Seems alot of people here don't understand what the ref's job is. I'm not Mario's biggest fan, but he told Cachoiera to defend herself, and that's exactly what she was doing. His job is SOLELY to stop the fight, if said fighter is NOT defending, not to decide whether one fighter is too skilled to fight the other.

Dana isn't fooling anyone. They're desperate for stars, and will continue to pull this shit until they are publicly called out for it. Except for a few good fights here and there, the UFC is nothing more than a circus these days.

How is it UFC ineptitude when a ref doesn't stop a fight on time? This is a completely moronic post.

Even in good matchups, there are refs, like Yamasaki and Steve Mazagatti that let fights go on for too long.

Rose Namajunas vs. Joanna was a mismatch. Joanna won the title in the first place in a complete mismatch. What exactly is your point?

You're kidding yourself if you blame the UFC in this case

Yamasaki has the same job whether it's a world class champ or its a young child fighting. He failed to do his job, regardless of the match up. Period.

Yamasaki was criminal

That was about as even a match up as CM Punk’s debut

It was a hellacious beating that can easily finish someone’s career and leave a permanent mark on their health

Cygano was a shell after the Cain beatings, his speed was gone, his reflexes gone, his movement gone and his chin shattered

One fight is never worth it

There’s a difference between a mismatch and a pro vs amateur fight

It’s like making a dude off the street get in there with Rumble, the matchmaking was criminal in this case I think that’s what he means

The only point I see is OP being a complete retard.

Regardless of how you feel about Mario's reffing, the UFC had NO business making this matchup, and I think you know that.

Great post, except the Dana isn't fooling anyone part (he fooled the dummy I'll quote below).

Dana trying to get all outraged and put on this smoke and mirror show to keep people from being upset/noticing that he made this match in the first place. Girl had no reason or right to be fighting such a high level fighter....

When it comes to junior, you have to give some extra credit to Stipe and Overeem.... the Stipe fight was a five round war just like the Cain fights and then being KO'd by Overeem was like the cherry at the bottom of his downward spiral.

Mario Yamasaki is supposed to be a professional and he fucked up, bottom line.

But keep blaming the UFC for everything.

I haven't even listened to a word Dana said regarding this mess.

The responsibility for the beating that girl took lays at the feet of Mario Yamasaki and no one else. What Dana said means nothing.

You have no clue how professional fighting and matchmaking works, but sure, voice your opinion and call me a dummy.

Could be both, you know. Terrible match-making and reffing.

One has nothing to do with the other and clearly the OP is too dumb to see it.

They needed a match for Valentina, they found a brazilian (required as they were in brazil) who was 8-0.

Sure it was a mismatch but Mario could have stopped the fight in the first round pretty quick and then there would be no dialogue about this.

Has the OP considered that this was the only person from Brazil with a positive record that was actually willing to fight Valentina? I am certain the UFC talked to several fighters and most of them quite wisely said no.

This was a ref error, plain and simple. The only people happy about it are the just bleed gods...

Well, found another clueless dummy, OP. Dana fooled another one.
You are talking out of your ass. You should get more experience around combat sports before you speak like you have any idea about the topic.

Yamasaki is horrible but lets start blaming the correct people here..The commission sends some of these shitbums out over and over again. It's the commission's fault (and Mario's to an extent) and i'm not even going to comment on the OP.

Anybody even read Yamasaki's reply...he was reminding fighter to protect herself, etc. Every time he did so, she was intelligently trying to move and defend herself. It's not his job to say, well, this girl is trying, but she's not good enough.

It's his job to determine that the fighter CAN NOT or IS NOT defending themselves, not subjectively determine if she can be competitive. If she's getting her ass whooped too bad, then her corner can throw in the towel.

She shouldn't have been in the ring with such a high level fighter to begin with. That's on Uncle Dana.
