Ariel questioned him on the state of the LW belt, where Dana was quoted as saying something along the lines of "Khabib vs Tony for the real title". Then followed it with Conor is still the champion. To which Ariel said that makes no sense. Dana looked visibly awkward and embarassed and kept fumbling around asking for the next question.
Its the only reason Conor is still relevant today. He hasnt ever lost a title defence because there hasnt been one.
Think eventually Dana had to let go of his ridiculous grudge, or else the public probably would have sided with ariel and it would have made him look even worse.
And all of that was on the heels of Okamoto asking him the very same question to which Dana roasted him for asking, asked if he was late getting there, then asked Okamoto if he had a question for the fighters, to which he asked Tony if he had clarity regarding the belt situation and Dana interrupted and just said 'next question, who else has a question'
Yeah, was a real gong show. Dana really has no one but himself to blame for the corner the media has backed him into.
I don't know this but I have to believe that he wants to strip Conor and move forward, and if he comes back wonderful, but it seems like he is completely forbidden to do so or speak openly about it.
Likely something to do with them using the champions clause for control. Problem is, time is running out on them deflecting the public attention on the behind curtains game it seems. It could cost them if they hang on too long.
