They tried to keep pride going since they lost their tv deal with fuji tv, but after all the scandals no one wanted to deal with pride anymore...I suspect they probably didn't really try all that hard and were happy to see it go under and absorb the Pride roster.

It probably didn't help them that they were outsiders and didn't have a handle on how things work in Japan. But I believe that the scandals and a much worse off business mess than initially expected made keeping it alive impossible.
