Putting a definite end to the Hendo/Shogun war was one of my favorites.

One of the most painful knockouts ever... You can see he's frozen up in agony when he's trying to roll back. That follow up shot must have felt like getting an electric cable shoved up his nose.

No fun at all.

You're probably right... But he was after winning as much gold as possible - he almost won it all too, he was one fight away from being the only person you win a Pride, UFC, Rings, and Strikeforce belt.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if certain circumstances were different - having said that, he did achieve an awful lot at HW, but in Pride Nogueira had his number, then they both moved to the UFC at the same time.

Good fun to think about it all though. Such a unique fighter.

Plus his boy Randy was at HW. Some matchups I would've loved to have seen tho:

Hendo vs Sylvia
Hendo vs Arlovski
Hendo vs Coleman
Hendo vs Igor
Hendo vs Kharitonov
Hendo vs Hunt
Hendo vs Werdum
Hendo vs Reem
Hendo vs Mirko
Hendo vs Barnett
Hendo vs Cain
Hendo vs Randy lol

I think he'd definitely have had a decent shot at going at least .500 vs that list

He'd be a big underdog against that murderer's row... Would no doubt steal a couple. He seems to almost always win against taller opponents... I guess the physics of finding the chin with an overhand right make sense that a shorter fighter would find it more easily.

I'd have preferred to see him more at LHW when the time was right... There's a couple of HW fights I'd like to see too.

Hendo vs Chuck
Hendo vs Skinny Pride Reem
Hendo vs Ken Shamrock
Hendo vs Sakuraba
Hendo vs Igor
Hendo vs Horn
Hendo vs Don Frye would have been epic.

Also there are a few MW or WW catch weight fights that would have been awesome too.

Hendo vs GSP
Hendo vs Hughes
Hendo vs BJ

Would watch all.

Nobody voting for UFC 17... Interesting.

Then again, apart from kniwing about the broken jaw, it was really, really boring, even if everyone thought Newton was going to win.

The way he won ufc 17 as a wrestler at that time is what I'll remember most.

Henderson was awesome, but started the slow decline after losing to Quinton Jackson. After that his reputation started taking hit after hit after hit. (Jake Shields, Anderson Silva, Machida, Rashad, Vitor, etc.)

He beat Fedor and Shogun in after losing to Shields. Jake is probably the most underrated guy in MMA.

All great fighters in the best moments of their careers.

That's the great thing about Hendo - he's had some low points in his career interspersed with extravagantly awesome moments - it's that unpredictability, often coming in as a forgotten underdog on a loss, then delivering a savage KO to a bigger, higher ranked over and over again that makes him so special.

Hendo is my all time fav

I went with him winning PRIDE MW title although there's a bit of an asterisk next to it.

Wandy having the flu?

I think he had fever, not sure if flu as well but that's what I meant.

Also achievement wise Wand wasn't de facto champion since he lost in the 2005 MWGP and Shogun won it.

Whenever I think of what a real fighter is ... I think of Dan Henderson. Every time.

He'd also been KTFO by CroCop not long before that, and supposedly in training as well... But it doesn't really change the fact for me. Wanderlei wasn' the same from that poit and Hendo's star shone brighter.

Well i was actually still watching TUF during the hendo bisping season, and i gotta say hendo KTFO bisping, and the way he did it after all bispings trash talk, after saying hed let his fists do the talking... watching that KO live (on tv live) was one of my most satisfying moments in all of mma history for me, and ive been watching since the 90s.
Thanks for summing up my thoughts exactly... after that KO I had to go back on DVR and watch it about a dozen times...

Followed by lurking on Sherdog the next day and watching it a dozen more.

That KO will live in infamy

The Bisping KO is probably my favorite but I think his biggest accomplishment was KO'ing Wand to take the Pride MW belt.
