People are right when they say it is a moot point, because he ain't doing it, but he has almost done it before as an adult.

27 years old. 176 pounds he weighed in at for this fight.

nearly 20 years ago and 6 pounds heavier, obvious proof he can make 170 now at age 44 in 2015 lol come on guy

Hendo is a beast a WW, he was at WW back in PRIDE and won the belt. I'm not sure how the cut will affect him with his age tho. ;)

Any person who is properly hydrated beforehand, with no health issues can get to 170 if they walk around below 200 like he does. With the amount of water weight people carry, that isn't controversial. People in much lower weight classes drop 25 pounds of water weight before a fight.

The issue is how he would perform, which by his own admission would not be good, because he hates doing it and feels drained. But he is obviously walking around at the same size if not smaller than many welterweights. Guys like Rory are gigantic.

You think it's a good idea for 45 year old legend who fought at LHW and MW his entire career to cut 15 more lbs for his final couple of fights?

Because he "looked small"?

you forgot his fights at heavyweight

I honestly think it's time for some people to move up to fight Dan. the guy has fought in three separate divisions. including heavyweight. I don't see why so many are terrified to move up a weight class. I mean Jesus Christ most welterweights are bigger than Dan. I would love to see him fight Johny Hendricks. or just to put on a show and fight Matt Hughes or Josh Koscheck.

Except for the fact that -any person- can't. You and other people keep saying "so and so drops 25 pounds of water weight, that must mean anybody can". That's not true in any way shape or form.

Daniel Cormier almost died at the 2008 Olympics from weight cutting.

People in much lower weight classes drop 25 pounds of water weight before a fight.

LMAO no they don't. Most fighters that cut a ton of weight like that, especially at lower weight classes will gradually lose some of the weight through out training camp and cut the last 10-15lbs. or so of water right before weigh ins. The people who cut more water than that the day of weigh ins are the ones who look extremely dead on the scale or the ones who miss weight.

Henderson hasn't been 170lb since about 1990. 25 years. A fight at 176lb in 1997 doesn't prove he could make 170 & fight, that was 18 years ago.

Hendo actually started his career at 168lb. I doubt he wants to water cut at this age, even if he's the same size if not smaller than your bigger WW's.

That's a really poor example. Cormier now fights 6 pounds lower than 211, which is what he tried to reach in the 08 Olympics and got sick. There are right ways to do things, and wrong ways. He still cuts weight - he weighed 220 2.5 hours after his last weigh in.

Paul Daley has some problems at times hitting 170, although he does get there. He's also a guy who cuts 40 pounds in one day and hits it at times. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/10/...-how-hell-lose-40-pounds-in-one-day-seriously

10-15 pounds in one day is nothing. Guys used to do that in wrestling for same day weigh ins.

Are you serious with this post or are you just trolling at this point? lol using Paul Daley as an example is exactly proving my point about -some- people. Paul Daley has also missed weight like 6 fucking times hence the reason MOST people don't go the method of cutting over 25lbs in one day. Your video is also from 2011 and if you knew anything about Paul Daley you would know he's lost a lot of weight and has hired nutritionists in the last few years to make smoother cuts.

10-15 pounds in one day is nothing, true, hence the reason why the mass majority of fighters go the route of losing weight throughout camp and only cutting that last 10. Watch some episodes of Embedded and see how many people are like "awesome, weight is on point, I only have to cut 8lbs." and low numbers such as that.

Also Daniel Cormier was an excellent example, you talk about how easily it is to shed 30+ pounds, Cormier was an Olympic level athlete who cut weight his entire life, I'm sure he was educated in the ways of hydration and weight cutting, but guess what, him doing what you're advocating almost killed him. If you watched anything about Cormier leading up to his latest fight with Rumble you would have saw he was only 220lbs. going in to fight week. He only ended up cutting, guess the number......TEN TO FIFTEEN pounds of water on the day of weigh ins.

You keep talking about how "easy" it is to shed 30lbs. of water in one day, please post a video of you doing it.

Oh. People here can't follow anything. This is what I posted.

I'm using Paul Daley as an example of the extremes people can go in cutting weight in one day and making it. He cut 40 pounds in one day, made weight, won the fight.

What I said before was anyone under 200 and properly hydrated and healthy at that weight could hit 170. The issue is how they perform. Go back and reread if you are having trouble.

He was bragging about how much junk he was eating and how heavy he was before the Olympics, actually. He messed up. I'm not advocating what he did. You can't follow.

No, that's not what I keep talking about. I think because you think someone on the internet disagreed with you, you are getting super defensive and can't really converse properly.

I dont think ive ever seen a pic of Daley at 210lbs. Ever.
He looked close in weight to Diaz and smaller than koscheck. That means ~185-190.

So you think Daley is lying about how much he weighs in that video?

If he only weighed 185-190 pounds, I don't think he would show up at 175 like he has and forfeit part of his purse, and lose title shots.

It wouldn't do Hendo any favours dropping to 170. The guys in 170 would move far to fast for him, which will make it alot harder for him to land the h bomb, on top of that the weight cut will probably affect his stamina and power.

Middleweight is for him especially at his age.

I don't think he should at this point but I've always thought he was small for a middleweight. When he fought Renzo he appeared to be about the same size. Makes his accomplishments that much more impressive.

I'm convinced severe weight cutting is more damaging than concussions.
