Dan Hardy. Past and present... Such a contrast

He was always a smart guy. Having he Mohawk was a good career move because it made him somewhat relevant and memorable. He didn't have the skills to be a top fighter but his look.and personality helped get him places his fists couldn't. Always been fan, the kos tear jerker is a top 3 mma gif all time.

Dan Hardy is a nice guy but he's not well spoken by English standards.

He just pronounces words correctly; as opposed to US fighters demolishing the queens English with their lazy American drawl.

I would say that Yoel speaks better English than most US fighters.

I suppose I have to like him, he's from where I'm from and live! So he sounds normal to me anyway.

So you're saying he was a poor man's Primetime?

Dan was always a very articulate deep thinker even back when he was fighting, the Mohawk was just to grab peoples attention.

Didn’t like him then, don’t like him now. For the tough guy talk he was called out by Mickey Gall and promptly said, “...nah I’m good.”
Yeah that damn wolfheart stopping him from fighting...what a punk

Meh. He wouldn't be anywhere near where he is today if he wasn't from the UK, he's probably just stoked to have a job so he plays whatever character they want him to.

Read Dan Hardy’s book last week, he’s always been the same, just knew how to play the game back in the day,

He mentions how he once got a bonus cheque under the table from the UFC that was bigger than his fight purse. All because he hyped the fight beforehand and generated some buzz for the event.

Dan learned what a lot of guys in sports learn... nobody really finds the "real them" very interesting. so he got a stupid haircut and started insulting people. bingo - he carved out a little niche for himself in the UK market. Ultimately he just wasnt that good at actual fighting to be a star but he did ok for a guy who was pretty average at his profession.

You do understand a “persona” and what it is?

By definition, a persona is not the true character.

none of us reveal out true character to the world, except perhaps those who are mentally ill and have no self control. what people see of us is always a persona. when he is in a video on youtube or on tv commentating, that is also a persona

I don’t mind guys hyping up fights and generating buzz when they go in there and deliver a good show.

You have guys like Covington who hype themselves up and then put on total shit shows. Condit to some degree back with the Diaz fight but that was a smart technical performance so can’t hate on him too much, especially after delivering some memorable performances.

I think we just got a chance to get to know him after his brief stardom. He’s bad ass one of those fighters you wanna have a beer with

Dan started writing articles as he got into MMA. So, no, he hasn't really changed, he's just focused on that now.
