he defended against all the #1 contenders. fought the best that were available. Not a paper champ IMO

Dont forget everyone that jones is Barely 30 years old. Jon while awesome has made a career of beating aging fighters. Outside of Gus pretty much everyone has been mid 30s and older

Didn't watch the same fight I watched. Jones was landing body and leg kicks and body punches often. He slowed Cormier with his attack. The first three minutes of the fight was overwhelming in Jones favor, save for one uppercut.

This is all that ever really needs to be said on the topic.

DC is an absolute freak, and without doubt one of the best fighters of his generation. Arguably the second best light heavyweight of all time.

Jones is just the king of freaks.

People don't realize how rare it is for us to get a truly elite athlete in MMA. Especially in the higher weight divisions, men that size will enter virtually any other professional sport before MMA. We get a real elite athlete in Jones, and he's considered one of the greatest of all time.

Oh come on.

You went hard saying DC was going to win this one, and you listed a lot of reasonable thoughts on it. The reality is that DC is a great fighter, and Jones is arguably the greatest of all time.

I think he's a dumpster fire of a person. I'm certainly not a 'fan' of Jon Jones. But its mental gymnastics to ever watch that guy fight and say he's not different then everyone else doing it. He's doing a different thing.

Exactly, champion on paper because Jones was the real champ the entire time but couldn't fight.

When Jones came back you saw what happened, the real champ was re-crowned.

No disrespect to DC though, Jones was just the real champ and better.
 
Champ for 2 yrs, but only defended twice and faced Anderson in non-title bout.
