They started off in Dallas as the Texans this was the first AFL season in 1960, after a couple/few years they moved to Kansas City, as the Chiefs .

The first "star" oft the new league was a Dallas Texan out of North Texas State named Abner Haynes another number 28, he had been the first black to play college football in Texas (him and a teammate).

Ih his North Texas State uni, one of my prized possesions

As we know the Kansas City Chiefs played in the very first Superbowl with future Hall of Famer Len Dawson at the helm, that was the first of seven times playing in the biggie,

In the 4th Superbowl the AFL needed another win a NFL 3 AFL 1 would suck, As we know the Chiefs evened the score at 2-2.

Over the years that franchise has had some of the great characters in pro football from tiny Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith a kick returner to the monstrous Buck Buchcanon, Ernie Ladd and the 6-10 TE Morris Strode.

Toss in Fred "Hammer" Williamson (future actor) Mack "Truck" Lee Hill the most powerful RB ever, banged up a knee, died on the operating table, there was another bull Christian :"Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye, the Wondorus Warren McVea, The Tank Robert Holmes like the Truck out of Southern U.

Fred Arbansas was the best TE in the AFL he preceded Tony Gonzalez and Travis Kelce obviously. Then there was Tyreek Hill, while not the fastest in track he was the fastest ever on a football field in pads with ball in hand, the guy was amaizing.

What can we say about Patrick Mahomes other than....WOW!....is this cat a great QB or what?

Once had a defense with six future Hall of Famers out there, thinking that was a first.

Speaking of great Chiefs, this stud doesn't get the props he deserves, he was the first of the big fast physical receivers,

Would you believe back in the day the NFL did have the Kansas City Cowboys?

The Kansas City Cowboys were a National Football League team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The team was founded as the Kansas City Blues in 1924, and as the Kansas City Cowboys in 1925 and 1926.[1] The Blues competed as a traveling team, playing all of their NFL games in other cities' stadiums in their only year under that name. LeRoy Andrews acted as the team's player-coach.

Stone Johnson was a running back at Grambling and a 9,3 sprinter who also ran a world record 20.5 for 200m and made that 1960 Olympic 200m final. Then off to the Texans, they switched him to WR, in a preseason game he was injured, he didn't make it, he died. The classic what might have been.

Mack Lee Hill, he averaged over 5 yards a carry banging the line

That Chiefs All Time Offense

QB....Patrick Mahomes
RB....Christian "Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye a 255 who ran a leg on the 4x1 while at Azusa, a discus thrower
RB....Jamaal "10.18" Charles
receiver....Tyreek "10.15" Hill
receiver....Otis Taylor
TE.....Travis Kelce***

*** his connection with Mahomes trumps Tony Gonzalez, and......Kelce had better Chiefs numbers.

No team with a better size/speed combo.

Just think Hall of Famer Len Dawson couldn't make the team. Really hard for any other team to beat what the Chiefs can bring up there.

Imagine where the Chiefs would be today if they had drafted Jonathan Taylor, and they could have they passed on him, big mistake.

True story....

My fav AFL team was the Chiefs, my fav NFL team the Niners.

So I hit this yardsale, the guy has a brand new Electric Football game, ya remember....buzzzzzz buzzzzz. So I give him the 10 bucks, get it home, guess what two teams came with it, yep.....Chiefs and Niners, what were the odds?

As a kid I'd play hours of....buzzzzz buzzzzz....as an adult (have all the Tecmo games) it sucked.
