That really surprised me as a father, I remember when a teenager accidentally ran over my 3yo with his bike (it wasn't malicious he just was just being careless) -- I saw my 3yo head bleeding and screaming, and every instinct in my body was to absolutely destroy that teenager, and had he been at arms length in that second I might have. I'd never felt rage like that--it's really quite shocking.

No, he was reasoning with her and she brushed him off with "okay, bye." Proceeded to bend over to meet her face with the 5 year olds face and continue to demean the kid. That's when the father snapped.

For as long as I've known that video to be online, there are very few have felt sympathetic for the girl in the comments.

This video was a roller coaster of moral justifications the more I got the details.

First I assumed the bully was a boy and was on the dad's side. Then I saw it was a 12 year old girl and was judgmental of the dad. Then I learned the girl was bullying a 5 year old so I was the fence; she obviously needs discipline but maybe not in that way from a stranger. Then I learned that girl was asked to stop but continued and her parents didn't do shit so the dad took it upon his own hands. I'm on team dad here.

The 12 year old did what, exactly? From what we actually see in the video she was verbally disrespectful and then bent down toward the younger child.

This is nowhere even close to requiring a slap. She was being a snot nosed little shit, it seems - but even that's hard to really argue given how short the video is and the behavior is mostly her laughing and seemingly being disrespectful.

Its absurd that a 12 year old would be bullying a 5 hear old, but hauling off and slapping her isnt the solution. This sort of bullying needs handling by parents and supervisors - how often do 5 and 12 year old children even interact? They wouldn't even be going to the same school, let alone class, in many countries. That's kindergarten and grade 7. It's likely only at a bus stop or something.

Its shocking how many sherdogers are condoning assaulting a 12 year old girl for the crime of being rude - anything beyond this is speculation. The video shows only what it shows - a 12 hear old being sassy and then a grown ass man belting her in the face.

Team bullied 5 year old now has a dad with a criminal record and/or a residence in the local jail?

12 year olds can be assholes. Parents of children who are assholes can also be assholes.

Committing assault against a minor is in no way justified by these two facts.
