Breaking news from Knapp.

http://mmajunkie.com/?p=195012

Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp is targeting a return to California for the all-female MMA promotion’s next event, and if featherweight champ Cristiane Justino is free to fight, there’s a spot for her.

Knapp today told MMAjunkie she’s targeting July 29 for Invicta FC 18 at a city to be determined, and she’s evaluating options for “Cyborg” Justino (16-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) should the champ and her other promoter, UFC, agree a title defense is next.

Now this is how you're supposed to do it. If you go elsewhere for a fight whether it be another organization or weight class, your next fight is immediately back to a title defense. That way you're not ridiculously holding up the division and creating some BS interim title.

They just need to find another Soccer mom for her to beat up..

If anyway possible please set up cyborg and the queen of spades , shes just gross in everywhere , and can't stand to even here her talk lol she dresses like X-Pac fromm old school wwf.
Please feed her to cyborg so I can see her koed again

Sounds like it's anything but set.

City TBD
Opponent TBD
If Cyborg is free TBD

Not a lot of info. Knapp has already said it wont be against Evinger, possibly Megan Anderson. But this is the same sort of crap the organization was doing last december when Cyborg was supposed to fight Dandois at 140 in November and the whole card got changed to January and that fight fell through because of the lack of information being relayed to the fighters.

I have my issues with Cyborg, but when your organization doesnt even know what city they are having a title fight in, basically in 2 months, thats some cracker jack level crap.

What division? Women's 145 is a barren wasteland, Cyborg isn't holding anything up.

They're a small promotion. They're not on the level where they can set dates and rent venues 6-8 months in advance like the UFC does. Btw, they might be "tba" and not necessarily tbd.

Meh, I'd say It's better to have someone completely destroy an entire division, Jon Jones style, than to to constipate it by fighting cans in other leagues (Vitaly Minakov).

As far as her next fight, I'm guessing either Cindy Dandois or Megan Anderson are next for Cyborg? I'm just barely getting into Invicta so I don't really know any other contenders.

Sadly, unless they find someone else overseas, that's about it.

I dont expect 6-8 months, but they should have a venue and an opponent in a time frame that is longer than the average fight camp. Going into summer they are going to have a harder time finding venues this close to the event date. Changing a whole card from Nov to Jan isnt exactly professional either. "Evaluating opponents" for their champ 2 months out from the fight is also a little harsh.

I know the smaller promotions have to scramble a lot more, but a minor league promotion like Invicta should be able to put something in place in a reasonable time frame. Unless they have some set info (at least for their fighters, which they might already) it makes it hard for these fighters to take it seriously and be taken seriously.

Pride used to not release info until within a month. Sometimes announcements are delayed due to final contractual negotiations.
