Kinda short sighted to not make this a PS5/Series X game imo,

It will be.

Looks like they are having problems just getting it working for the 1st generation XB1 and Ps4, which each were practically 2010 technology released in 2013.

The difference between the XB1/PS4 versions and the XBX/PS5 is going to be staggering.

Yeah they should have just made it a PS5/XBX game though.

Using the XB1 and PS4 as a baseline hamstrings what you can do overall with the game.

Unless they are planning a complete rewrite for the new consoles, the remnants of the older systems will still be there.

This is a game that deserved a much bigger scope of simulation IMO than what XB1 and PS4 CPUs can provide.

Wait till you see what open world games will be able to pull of simulation wise when they are coded baseline for the new CPU's - it's going to blow people's minds.

Yeah, it would have been more convenient that way, but there's 150+ million XB1s and PS4s on the market now.

CDPR would have lost tens of millions of dollars by not releasing it to the biggest hardware audience available.

All signs point to PS5 and Series X coming out that same week. With no PS5 enhanced version I don't think I'll be picking this game up for at least a year. I'll be busy playing Spiderman Miles Morales and Valhalla

I don't think they planned to be releasing this close to the next gen release dates. I think the game is taking longer to make than they thought and the new consoles coming out sooner than they expected. I bet if they would have known 2 or 3 years ago that the consoles would have been releasing this holiday season they would have reprioritized for nex gen. I'm sure they aren't happy about the situation either.

The Cyberpunk2077 Reddit is in full-on meltdown mode like a bunch of fucking babies. "Fuck this game, you lied, we trusted you, why do journalists get to play it, I took vacation time" etc. A big old circlejerk of tears and nerd temper tantrums.

If anything, I figure they'd use the PC version as the baseline, and then lower everything for the consoles.

Basically whatever platform has the weakest cpu is the baseline. Because you can scale graphics up/down but not so much AI/physics a d other gameplay dependent systems. Relatively speaking graphics are easier to scale.

They started making the game in like 2014. By the time they could have started work on PS5 they would have to scratch years of work and for what? I would literally bet that NO ONE is dissuaded from buying the game due to it not being on PS5. Then, like I said earlier, couple years from now "Enhanced edition" sells a few million more copies overall.

I am not really dissapointed by the delay. This game looks like another DeusEx, only on steroids. Which is probably a good thing. Im not a fan of Witcher, I thought it was boring and really plays that black/white themes. Tho, after my most anticipated game Death Stranding floped. I am really carefull with my expectations. What was really dissapointing about DS, is that the story was weak. And I was expecting to be blown away like in MGS2.

Cannot blame them. It is a huge game, I just hope GOT is completed fully by the time of its release.

kinda dumb that its a first person with character creation and cosmetic items. Might as well give 3rd person option and postpone the release more

This may sound crazy but I bet the delay is because of black lives matter. There is some controversy surrounding the Haitians in this game and I bet they are changing the narrative. Maybe I'm totally off about this.

LOL, we can't even portray Haitians honestly, anymore.

You'll see pro-#BLM Marxists champion Haiti because Louverture led what is the only successful large-scale slave revolt in the history of the Americas on that island in what became the Haitian Revolution (though the success is only owed to the competitive endeavors of much more powerful players jockeying for supremacy in the Caribbean at the time).

It might benefit these types to keep reading. The chapters that follow are grim. A little over two centuries later and Haiti has been the biggest steaming pile of shit in the western hemisphere for at least 50 years, and probably longer, my knowledge just isn't robust enough to confidently assert this further back than that. They are the dead last in almost every major metric measuring quality of life. It is ruled by criminals. There probably isn't a single politician in office who isn't corrupt, and working for these criminal syndicates. Hell, that goes for local representatives who are liaisons to international humanitarian organizations, there. They see charity as another revenue stream to be diverted and plundered. They're all for it.

You are off. Keep the War Room shit out of here please. The creator of the Cyberpunk IP is black. There's a Haitian Youtuber/games journalist who came out of the first press event and was ecstatic about them including Haitian characters. He was excited he could understand what some of the characters were saying when speaking their native language. There is no controversy.

In my mind, the PS4 games had three clear "generations". The 2013 - 15 games were like really good current PS3 games with borderline improvements.
Then 2015 - 17 separated themselves in nearly every metric.
The 2018 - are just mind blowing imo.

That’s what I’m really waiting for in PS5. The second n third gen games. That’s when the truly groundbreaking games will come out with more than just pretty graphics n fast loading.

Obviously I would have preferred September, but 2 extra months isn't a big deal. I currently have 7 games in my backlog, and I'm only close to finishing two of them. I haven't even started several of those. Plus I'm sure something else will come out and catch my eye between now and then.
