Okay, gents... got my newest TP order a little while ago, but waited until this week to crack her open (still had to go through some remaining supp inventory). In any event, I decided to order a custom tub of protein. Composition = 85% Hydrolyzed Whey High Grade + 15% Hydrolyzed Casein + TP Orange Creamsicle Flavor... no additional sweeteners or additives.

I know. It'll probably taste like ass.

In any event, I'm going to start using this mix tomorrow (PWO) with some WMS and other consumables. I'll post my review of its taste and my personal experience with its effectiveness here. This will mark my first dedicated time combining casein with whey PWO, as well as my first time using all hydrolyzed protein.

We'll see how it goes. Might come in very handy when I attempt to complete Sonny's "100 Burpee Challenge" for the first time later this week. A week of firsts for me!

Alright, first thing's first...

TASTE/TEXTURE

Not bad at all. I've had hydrolyzed whey before, but never in such a high concentration. And I've never had hydrolyzed casein ever. Tried it PWO this morning with only WMS... just to gauge taste and texture. Again, not bad (actually pleasantly enjoyable). I do want to add that my WMS is flavored identically.

MIXABILITY

Mixes very easily. Blender Bottle ftw.

I'm excited to see how this will affect all of the standard metrics. Guess only time will tell.

Crap dude, the thread title almost made me throw up. I'm gonna take your word on it though, as I was in the works of trying some hydrolyzed whey myself.

Is it true that the hydrolyzed casin will absorb just as fast as the whey? If so, why would one use casin if it taste a lot more bitter.
I guess it would provide a bigger amino acid profile... who knows?

hydroluzed casein seems to be pointless eh? the beenfit of the casein is that it absorbs slowly so increasing its rate will make it less effective. i would've gone with the micellar casein.

no. hydrolyzed casein is different. alot of guys take it immediately post workout. Read Monger's thread

Read Monger's thread

I have a thread on that?

Some guys taking it PWO, sure. My only answer for that is that it gives a different amino profile. I really don't see the need for it though. I'm neutral on the topic.

EFFECTIVENESS (SO FAR...)

Okay, given that switching to this all hydro combo is the only major change to my supp scheme (other than ditching NO-Xplode), recovery has been pretty damned impressive to say the least. Increased work at the gym, but soreness is virtually nonexistent and I feel ready to hit the same body parts the very next day. Coincidence?

Oh, wait a sec, I did switch from using Accelerade plus BCAAs periWO to using Endurox plus BCAAs. Maybe that has something to do with it as well.

I doubt it.

Accelerade per 31g
Fat - 1
Carbs - 21
Protein - 5

Endurox per 31g
Fat - 1
Carbs - 21
Protein - 5

The carb make up (glucose vs. fructose) could be slightly different between the two after viewing the ingredients but I'm sure any variation would be entirely insignificant. Endurox seems to have added glutamine and BCAA's to the mix but with the rest of your periWO nutrition these additions would be insignificant as well, in my opinion. I'd stick with Accelerade because it's generally cheaper than Endurox.

how big are your shakes? how many grams of powder do you mix in? mix it with milk or water?

I always have 20oz milk PWO with 1 scoop casein + 1 scoop whey (~30g powder per scoop). Mixing casein and whey is great.

Good point. I posited that the switch may have had an effect due to the added glutamine (I vaguely remember reading something about the potential additive benefits associated with glutamine when taken with BCAAs... but I also know that there are plenty of detractors when it comes to the effectiveness of supplemental glutamine consumption).

So, 100% hydro ftw then!

Pretty big... I throw a bunch of stuff in there: WMS, protein, creatine mono (thanks to the D&S regs who e-talked me out to switching to CEE btw), BA, greens+, BCAAs, r-lipoic acid, oat bran, blueberries, nonfat plain yogurt, green tea (this is my base... not milk or water), liquid multi, and sometimes some pb or almond butter. I aslo pop some fish oil pills at this time as well. Then I throw back some ACV prior to my PWO meal.

Never measured out the final "size," though.
