The UFC are constantly trying to keep this guy away from a title fight. Yes, he has a black eye on his record with a KO loss to Derrick Lewis, but he's 3-0 again since that loss. He clearly deserves to fight for the title far more than Stipe Miocic, but my guess is the UFC will keep him as far from Jon Jones as they can.

UFC has consistently allowed other fighters to cut in line in all weight classes, time and again.

Blaydes v Pavlovich is the obvious #1 contender bout. In no uncertain terms in a more merit based production the winner should fight for the next title shot.

Alas, UFC allowing Stipe to jump back in ahead of said winner would be wildly consistent.

It's actually not at all about Blaydes.

EDIT: I just re-read the original post and am now thinking TS is complaining not about Stipe getting a title shot, but about Blaydes fighting Pavlovich. If so, he's an idiot or a troll or both (there is no option d).

They are not trying to protect the Undisputed Goat, they just want to make the biggest money possible. Stipe is more well known to casuals and have more accomplishments than Blaydes.

Maybe he should try fighting more...?

His last fight was a year ago in that fluke injury "win" against Aspinall. Before that was Daukaus, and before that Roz way back in 2021. That's his current streak.

Go beat a current contender if you want a title shot lol. If he gets by Sergei, okay he's got a recent win. Let's talk then.

Stipe puts more butts in seats at the end of the day, it's a business. I'm sure if he beats Pavlovich he'll get to fight for the title next regardless if Jon vacates or not.
Hopefully. Blaydes vs Pavlovich winner should be the #1 contender bout, though. Stipe hasn't fought in 2 years and is coming off a loss.

The UFC could easily wait a month to schedule the winner against Jon Jones, given that he's not set to fight until July.

Are you smoking crack?

You could make that argument if the person given a title shot was active. But Stipe Miocic hasn't fought at all in 2 years and is coming off a loss. Your logic is so flawed it's not even funny.

You're conflating two separate issues.

Stipe also not being worthy of a title shot doesn't suddenly mean Curtis is.

Does he deserve to fight for the title more than Sergei Pavlovich?

Blaydes has had opportunities to put himself in line for the title that he has simply failed on. Both Francis loses, and getting epically KO'd by Lewis. On top of that, this isn't really a 3 fight win streak considering his last fight was won by injury and Blaydes does himself no favors publicly declining proposed match ups like he does

The level of intelligence isn't high enough here, he most likely won't understand this point at lol. It'll go right over his head

You do understand the promotional power of having Jones vs Stipe, right?? For the UFC it's promoters dream fight having the LHW goat vs the HW goat. Both guys have very celebrated UFC careers and it will be a huge fight. It's not just about who's the right contender, it's also about putting together the biggest fight and the timing of that.

Beating Pavlovich should secure it for him. He'll obviously have to wait until Stipe-Jones, but Jon did say he wanted 3 fights this year.

Curtis will probably get his shot after Stipe if he wins his fight vs Serg, and if Jones wants to fight someone like Curtis after beating Stipe.

There is little doubt in my mind that if Jones takes out Stipe he will be yelling to roof tops for the Francis fight. So its totally plausible that Curtis could be skipped again. From a fan point of view its all wins for us. Curtis vs Jones is a fight very few are clamouring for. He had some shots in the past and failed. HW being so thin he is in the mix. But if there is ever division people get to jump the line and most fans should be fine with it, it's HW.

I see no reason to keep Blaydes away from Jon. I think Jon is not likely to get wrestle-fucked in an MMA match by any human walking God's green earth and his striking is leagues ahead of Curtis. So in a 5 round fight I have to favour him to finish Blaydes, either by TKO or sub.
