  • The age of peak athletic performance depends upon the key functional element required of the successful competitor.

  • 16 out of 21 (76.2%) total champions are 32+
  • 1 out of 21 (4.76%) total champions is under 28

You can post anything you like.

All that matters is you admitted what I wanted you to admit.

Sweet dreams my little (finally educated) one.

Sweet dreams my little (finally educated) one.

That was stated months ago when I made the threads. If you weren't a child, you would admit that you are ignorant of physiological science and how it pertains to physical primes.

I've already averaged the age they attained their title, in every division. All the links are in the OP of this thread, and in the OP of each divisional thread.

I guess I could average out the age in which they all lost their titles too. Goddammit.

Spider's got everyone but Jones smoked in that sense - ages 31-38 - and the all the standard GOAT candidates (Aldo, DJ, Jones, GSP, and Fedor) are the closest to him as far as longevity. Jones and Silva stand pretty far above the rest, and Silva was the oldest amongst all of them during their reigns.
That is amazing! (Told you Silva was not average!!! :D)

Oh, I know he's not average. When I was saying he wasn't an outlier or exception, I specifically meant in skewing the numbers for the average age of champions when they acquired their belts. 31 is normal.

Edited the OP to show Figgy getting his title back! These are the changes:

  • UFC average went from 33 to 33.42
  • Combined average went from 32.71 to 32.95

UPDATED THE OP TO REFLECT 2 BIRTHDAYS:
  • Valentina Schevchenko turned 34 - bringing the UFC average age from 33.42 to 33.5
  • Patricky Freire turned 36 - bringing the Bellator average age from 32.33 to 32.44
  • Both birthdays brought the overall average for all combined champions in both promotions from 32.95 to 33.05

Updated the OP with a few changes:
  • Jiri Prochazka (29) defeated Glover Texeira (42) to replace the oldest UFC champion with the youngest.
  • Carla Esparza (34) defeated Rose Namajunas (29) to replace the (previously) youngest UFC champion.
  • Usman turned 35
  • Nunes turned 34
  • Charles Oliveira has been removed as champion, making the LW title vacant and omitted from the numbers.
These changes made the average age of UFC champions go from 33.5 to 33.09 and took the oldest champion from 42 to 35.

Updated the OP with more changes!
  • Bader turned 39
  • Nemkov turned 30
  • Eblen (30) defeated Mousasi (36) for the Bellator MW title.
  • Freire (34) defeated McKee (27) for the Bellator FW title, replacing the youngest Bellator champion.
  • Carmouche (38) defeated Velasquez (35) for the Bellator Women's FLW title.
  • The average age of Bellator champions went from 32.44 to 33.11 with these changes.
  • The average age of all champions from both organizations combined went from 33.05 to 33.1 with these changes.

MMA is such a weird sport when you are at your best at around 30.... can anyone explain why?
