It's independent media that choose the rankings. UFC has nothing to do with it.

Some random media guys rank the fighters, and no doubt they will have ranked Cub, but the UFC control what goes on the website, and if they have removed his name it means he's gone, at least for the moment.

People keep calling him a “gatekeeper” and how he’ll never win the strap. Both true but he’s an exciting fighter and has a fan friendly style that leaves you satisfied after watching him fight win or lose. Because of those reasons he was the best kind of gate keeper unlike Bader for example. Beat Cub and you’re ready for big time (Ortega). Lose and you’re not ready (DHC).

Not to mention that "gatekeepers" like Bisping have come back to won titles. All depends on if the UFC wants you to be a beneficiary of their corruption.
