cross training Judo and BJJ

I do Judo and Japanese Jujutsu, they are similar... so can it really be said that I cross train? I dunno, but that's what I do.

I believe just this year the banned leg attacks so Greco is now the direct equivalent.

And if you just training judo to improve your BJJ i think you should at least train some wrestling because it teaches you to sprawl and be aware if someone does shoot. DC's book Gorilla Jiu-Jitsu has some really good stuff in there for forcing you oppenent into play a Judo style fight for takedowns.

duh stupid you can still do footsweeps, use your legs for throws etc etc, leg on leg action, or leg on stomach action etc etc

and double and singles aren't completely taken out yet either

bjj is not missing anything in regards to the standing phase of grappling. each sport has different goals, but if you are taught by a solid bjj player then you should have some solid takedowns in your game.

Judo has WAY more depth in it's stand up that bjj DOES. Most BJJ schools focus like 80% on the ground and 20% standing. Most Judo schools are opposite. Judo is hard as hell and takes years to master.

bwahahaha, I'm sorry. But I thought you said bjj schools do 20% standing... i'd say mine does 5-10% standing

ha, well maybe that is a little high. 10 maybe better. It's hard to say, I've only trained at a couple! I know it's low though. The reason BJJ guys are so good ont he ground is the amount of time they train there. Same as the reason judo guys are better standing. They spend most of their time their. That was All I was trying to say.
