This is crazy, it's almost like a super pro fought a regional fighter in terms of headstrike/boxing difference.
but izzy was also a 5-1 pro boxer too.non-pro level boxing >>> elite kickboxing
Chinese boxers aren't that good.but izzy was also a 5-1 pro boxer too.
Izzy's issue was refusing to move his hands from his waist, so the shell was even more effective than usual. Izzy was hitting glove or whiffing 80% of his strikes. Sean's key was completely nullifying the leg kicks throughout the fight and hitting Izzy with the occasional teep. The weird, Philly shell style Strickland used negated Adesanya's jab and without that to keep his opponent at pay, he faced the problem that many strikers with long arms have faced over the years: if you can't land the jab, the guy with shorter arms has an advantage on the inside.
That big knockdown in the first round seemed to knock the boxing part out of Izzy's kickboxing. Hard to win without it.
There are levels to striking in MMA and Sean showed that he is at a much higher level than Izzy offensively & defensively and the numbers proved that
Sean proberly expected Izzy to be at a high level of striking when they fought but it seemed that Sean was at a level that far exceeded Izzy
Just in case the fight was closer, so that the fix could be in loland he block/evade 90% of Israel's kicks. But somehow the UFC still counted those blocked kicks as landed strikes
This.Stricklands narrow stance took away Izzys leg kicks, hand fighting took away Izzys jab, constantly stabbing in the stomach with that lead teep kick, combining the lead teep feint with leg kick defense, Izzys go to counter of leaning back and ripping that lead hook was shut down by Sean's inside 1-2.
Styles make fights but sometimes it's just hard to tell how styles will match up till they happen.
reported for anti-chinese racism.Chinese boxers aren't that good.
