Did anyone else notice or perceive his striking to be very amateurish? He just kept flailing his arms randomly, there seemed to be very limited technique and a serious lack of accuracy and power. I'll give him credit where it's due he used his size, cardio and wrestling ability to overwhelm RDA and he used those flailing combinations to set up his take downs but good lord his striking looked unrefined for a UFC champion. I can't help but think if he runs into someone he can't take down or grind against the fence that he will be in for a tough fight.

Always has been. RDA's mentality and game plan was so frustrating.

Ya he throws like lower level heavyweights head down throwing hoping to land... he got some pretty solid kick game tho

I was impressed by the pace he pushed the entire fight.

Like many great wrestlers, the threat of a takedown makes his striking much more effective than it should be according to technique and aesthetics.

Goat level almost melted Ralphie in the stand up, Ralphie was suppose to have a huge striking advantage but the pressure was too suffocating. All American

Dude, I was screaming at RDA to not back straight up and he did it for the entire damn fight. Usually I don't get too involved but that was so frustrating.

I like to put it somewhere between

Carla Esparza and Ronda

I was there live. I dislike Colby more than most. I'll give him credit here though. He pressured the hell out of RDA and didn't let him breath. His striking is pretty bad though and would lose to Woodley, Till etc. Also live I noticed how much bigger Colby was than RDA. RDA really looked like a 155 in there

It looks like Chris Leben's striking

He did the same thing Pettis allowed him to do. Simply back him against the cage the whole fight. Even in the fifth round RDA was looking for his own TDs and clinching with him. Made no sense.

I don’t even care for Woodley, but if he strikes like that against Tyron, he’s gonna get put to sleep

Striking was fine. He was volume punching

He also did a great job of cage cutting and controlling the center. So many people overlook and underrated that aspect of fighting.

Someone who's good at controlling the center can turn a normally aggressive fighter, into one that backs up.

Still punched RDA in the face a lot.

No, I thought Colby looked good. Bare in mind RDA completely worked previously ranked #1 lawler on the feet, and lawler is just a striker. You didn't see any of that happen here. Colby was willing to have a good fight and try and put on a show and won in all regards.

THe style of fight he fought clearly worked well vs RDA, and i seriously doubt that Woodley can handle that pace. More and more i actually am believeing Colby when he says he made Woodley quit in the gym after 2 rounds. Woodley can't handle that pace at all, I'm telling you.

at least his striking is better than Khabibs..... gotta give him that much credit
