-Woodley is the champion and the UFC really don’t need to put an interim champion at his place , I’m sure he will be back by the end of the year so why the fuck do we need an non-credible interim champion?
 
This is the UFC. One of the biggest professional wrestling orgs in the business. Don't confuse it with real MMA

Wonderboy had TWO chances to win the title. He has not been overlooked at all. Tyron is not defending his belt in a reasonable amount of time. So, an interim title fight between 2 people not nicknamed Wonderboy makes sense, at least to me. Tyron will not be stripped of his belt, and the unification match will not be yet another yawner between Tyron and Wonderboy. RDA definitely deserves a shot at the title right now, and pitting him against Covington in Brazil is an ingenious marketing ploy.
 
100℅ agree and I'm not particularly a Woodley fan but UFC is ficking up by doing this he's been a active champ for them
 
woodley fought wonderboy twice in a row. with robbie out rda vs colby is the fight to make for the new,fresh title challenger. interim belt is just a prop
 
Was supposed to be Woodley/RDA. RDA/Lawler was widely acknowledged to be a No1 contender fight. Colby tweeted his way into being so disliked the UFC figured it could use him to keep Woodley open for a potential fight with GSP if GSP agrees to it.

They let negations with Woodley on a fight with RDA go nowhere, just so they could put this garbage together with the hopes of getting GSP back in there as soon as they can.
 
Colby Covington annoys me.

All the trash talking and he still only has 27k twitter followers on twitter.

RDA was next in line for a title shot.
I dislike the interim fight.
Colby should be fighting Thompson. But the problem is that Stephen fought twice for the belt already, and will not get another title shot so soon.
 
The UFC did not want to be put into a position of having to make Woodley vs Wonderboy 3.

Wonderboy clearly should be first in line for a belt if Woodley is out of the picture, but nobody wants to see Thompson vs Woodley 3 for a unification.

They want a title fight to bolster the card. They want to put pressure on Woodley to stop him refusing fights.

Stephen Thompson isn't necessarily the #1 countender. Don't use rankings to determine countenders.
 
It is no less credible than Khabib v Iaquinta.

Exactly. IDK why people complain when the business incentives are so obvious.
 
The current 'LW Champ' just beat a #11 ranked fighter to win the belt.

Just like Conors the real LW Champ until someone beats him. So is Woodley.
