People use mass transit to get to work. They stay out late to party. People that don't give a fuck and then get on mass transit in the morning should receive a stern talking to.

So putting yourself at his to serve is ok, but if the same guy who worked all weak goes out for a drink he is satan

Got you

I didn't understand this but some people are forced to use mass transit to get to work. If you want to reward yourself with some drinks then do it at home with the people in your circle.

Public health expert and renowned philosopher Andrew Cuomo now believes that the economy is more important than lives. He is willing to accept a higher Covid death rate so Karens can get haircuts.

For reference, New York is currently at its all-time-high case count. Almost double what it had during the first wave.

His vaccine restrictions have been so disastrously bad that people should instinctively agree with the opposite of whatever he suggests. He's been making De Balasio look good and competent lately which is about as big of a sin in politics as can be.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday that the state must start reopening its economy despite most New Yorkers not having received a coronavirus vaccination, saying that there will be “nothing left to open” otherwise.

“We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high,” Cuomo wrote in a tweet Monday morning.

“We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely,” the Democratic governor added.

New York currently does not allow gatherings of more than ten people at private residences. Indoor dining at restaurants is limited and even prohibited in some areas with higher positivity rates.

During his annual address to the state that kicked off Monday and will continue through the week, Cuomo promised to ensure that millions of New Yorkers are vaccinated and said he would work to revamp the economy this year.

Coronavirus cases in the state have continued to rise. New York currently has about 8,500 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, down significantly from the peak of 18,000 patients who were hospitalized in April.

Meanwhile, Cuomo’s vaccine distribution plan has been plagued with difficulties. Cuomo loosened restrictions on who was first in line to receive a shot after medical providers were forced to toss unused doses of the coveted vaccine because they had difficulty locating locate people who met the priority criteria.

On Friday, the governor granted vaccine access to essential workers and senior over 75. Then on Sunday, Cuomo gave permission for medical providers to give vaccine to more of their employees as well as pharmacy workers.

Its like democrats and republicans switches sides<{1-10}>

Trump has been saying re-open the country's economy since May 2020. Now that Democrats have damaged Trump's economy, and Biden is about to get sworn in, we may see some Democrats now telling other states to re-open everything again to get the economy going again. Keep in mind Dems are saying this in the middle of flu season, but demanded mask mandates in July.

It depends what's important to them, economy, Great Reset, forced vaccinations.... We will have to wait and see. And there may be debate between the Dems on this. It will also be interesting if the RINO governors re-open or talk about doing it soon.

Why does Canada want more people fitting into a smaller window outside of work? Making more people go out earlier increases density at these points of contact. Standing in line outside at 7pm or 9pm whats the difference?

Lol at Cuomo. Not like everyone said as soon as Biden admin on horizon ppl from the other side of isle would demand a reopening.

The Left and the RINO's are all about controlling your life. They have agenda's, they may be bought off by China, #TheGreatReset, who knows?

But we do know that they are not following "science" which is their answer every time we point out how illogical this stuff is

Yeah, you can only hope that the Dem side will now start pushing more openly to start returning to some kind of normality - they weaponised their stance to make Trump look like a Nazi hellbent on killing Americans but now, they are the ones who have to deal with a tanking economy themselves. Might make them start changing their minds about the situation.

An economist would focus on what's best for the economy just as physicians focus on physical health. Both are incomplete approaches to such a complex and far reaching problem. The current "save every life at all costs" approach puts me in mind of people against assisted death at all costs. Quality of life must be taken into account, especially if one is to buy into the "we're all in this together" line.

Obviously we're not all in it together if we're so willing to dismiss others concerns. That much is obvious.

Pretty much. The approach taken has been frustrating for those of us who have preferred the approach of taking this as an issue that chafes on a lot of competing interests, rather than turning it into a political cudgel focused on one issue. Cuomo's flip on this is emblematic of that change, as guys like him (who dominated the political scene in the US and our country) would club a guy who made his recent tweet with a cudgel of "just one life!" for literally months, as more and more data has been gathering on the fringes concerning the massive detrimental impact the lockdowns have been having around the world. As early as May things like this were popping up:

Coronavirus pandemic could bring on extreme poverty worldwide - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com)

And people who tried to bring the public discussion around it beyond just talking about grandma dying were met with moralizing cudgels like "“The illness is death. What is worse than death?” It's frustrating to see the sudden turn, after ten months of making this a political issue, to suddenly show concern for all the stuff that was previously ignored.

But, that's life, and that's politics. I can't help but get the feeling that if fewer people had been beating political drums back in May, the actual fallout from this thing would be significant less than what is going to hit us like a train soon.

California? But they're one of the GOOD places with all the mandates and whatnot! How could this happen? <TheWire1>

Population density of the big Cali cities makes it hella hard with all the shared transportation and tight living arrangements. Shared HVAC of large apartments is killer.

You know no one thinks you're clever by going herp derp mask not perfect gotcha. Masking reduces transmission by 50-80%. Even with that help eventually a critical point gets reached with community spread

Also, it's not just public setting spread. Hanging out with friends, which practically everyone is doing again now, is the largest source of exposure. And people aren't wearing a mask while in living room with two closest friends even though one of them could have picked it up from work or different friend circle no matter how small a circle people are trying to keep.

Shit like this is why I like you as a poster.

23,634 Americans have died from COVID in the past week.

That's more than the estimated total deaths from the flu in the 2019-2020 season (22,000).
