Could you just hide from the terminator?

If real hitmen only had to achieve their mission and had the Terminators durability then they wouldn’t need to be sneaky, they could just come straight at you.

The fact they can die to 80s/90s era weaponry and do care about what happens once they complete their missions means they can’t just do a Terminator. It would certainly be effective though (as people think it’s just a normal human so will ineffectually fight it or assume they are safe, like in the police station).
Haha well you basically just said if real hitmen were Terminators they'd act like Terminators. They also wouldn't be that effective because if hitmen were that durable everyone else would be too since they're all human.

Anyway, my comment was about how Terminators generally come at their targets in a straight line instead of sideways, with patience and planning. Unless they can corner the person or the person has absolutely no clue that's not very effective.

Well it has no need for thoughts of self preservation. Fear. Caution. Subtlety. Lies.
Since the terminator can time travel, why not just go back in time to the hospital where Sarah was born and kill her and/or her mom?

I'm sure that was a script for Salvation at one point, it was going to be set in the old West with Great Grandma Conor.

terminator terminates. although im not sure if he could shoot up with a modern police station seeing as they are all armed with Glocks.

Limited records? Sarah is as early as they know.

That'd be a seriously long movie if it took him 12 years to find her again. Bunch of scenes of him scanning through microfiche at the library, talking to random people at bars and grocery stores, and sifting through tax records at the courthouse.... hey man if you wanna write the story, go for it
I could have blown the doors off writing another Terminator. If you could (partially) retcon part 3 and on, and keep a linear timeline?

A woman and her young child are transient drifters, with it becoming obvious that the mother has kidnapped the boy; a man who she admits to people is the father of the child is looking for them, with the mother claiming he was abusive and dangerous.

Mother Reese Harasmi and her 7-8 year old child son Conner Harasmi (as she tells people she is forced to) are a loving unit, but there is apparent mental illness present with the mother. They are a transient pair and it becomes apparent she lost custody of her child due to her mental illness, and is avoiding the law. Moments of happiness for Conner where he is playing with other children or enjoying ice cream are interrupted with abrupt, paranoid, and borderline violent moments where the mother grabs his arm and drags him away from play areas and his interactions with other children.

Mother leaves somewhat stable situations with son for shelters, or even sleeping as homeless. It becomes apparent that the father is possibly the true hero of the story, as he may be trying to rescue his kidnapped son. Mother becomes paranoid around police, and even other government officials at shelters and food-banks.

We meet Ken Styles as he enters a Police station and asks if anybody has seen his boy or his mother who kidnapped him and lost custody due to mental illness. He breaks down to the clerk and states that this boy was his everything, and that she took him. You only see snippets of the father from behind and on weird angles, looking downtrodden and desperate to find his boy. You never get a good look at him until later in the movie.

The son begins to suspect his mother is mentally ill. He loves her, but he seems to want to get away, and says he liked staying with his dad. He wants to go back to his dads house. His mother tells him that wasn't his real dad; that his father was an important military man who traveled a lot, and that any man, or anybody else that wants to take him away from her is very bad, and may even have to die. The son, crying, tells his mom that dad never abused him, and he never saw his dad hit her, either. Emotions weigh heavy through scenes of poverty and a childhood being lost. The mother seems to become more violent, and when a couple other homeless children try to steal the son's toy gun on a train they hopped, the mother steps in and restrains the older child, and forces her son to beat the other child with the toy gun until it breaks. These are dark scenes. The tone of the movie has been dark and sad up to this halfway point.

I'm going to stop now because I didn't plan this out and started spewing it out just in response to your post.. But basically, I would have made the movie in a similar tone to the first movie, but a bit more emotional drama than horror, with horror elements emerging in the second half. I would have it revealed that this was a Terminator movie near the end. I can think of a bunch of ways to go.. The mother sees a digitally altered young looing Kyle Reese on a news program or in a national paper, and this is what leads her to go back to the city in California.. But she brings Enrique and company as back-up after a stop in the desert and they help destroy the Kyle Reese clone robot once it's discovered what he is etc.. She gets caught at the end and sent to Pescadero mental institution and you find out at the end that this was a prequel to T2, and you see John (Conner) being told that his mother was crazy, and nothing she said happened really happened. You find out the "father" he was talking about was his first foster father he was with for a few years, who has been killed, and he is sent to stay with Todd and Vasquez.

TL/DR make a dark prequel to T2 with a similar tone to the first movie, with a lower budget but still a good amount of marketing. Allow the word of mouth spread about the twist ending that was not given away in the marketing of the movie. NOTE: I never watched the Sarah Connor chronicals.

Anybody see what I did with the names? It's pretty obvious lol

Watching The Terminator. If you made the initial escape, would you be able to just disappear and have him not find you? Let's even say it's the 80s. He doesn't have super powers to detect your profile, but he's like a fairly smart detective.

If you got away once, and moved somewhere that nobody knew you, and used a different name, how would he find you? If you picked a random island, or another country, could you just live out your life with your new identity? How would he find you?

Idiot Sarah told her mom where she was for absolutely no reason, which was a lame plot convienence, but if she hadn't done that they literally could have gone to any other state and it would have taken hit-the-lottery luck for the t-100 to find them.

It is an interesting question that I have entertained more than once while on the spliff. It would have been tricky, but the Terminator had options.

While they did not know a ton about Sara Connor, Skynet certainly would have had knowledge of John Connors history. Based on that, the Terminator could have made deductions about Sarah Connors whereabouts at various points in time. Then just showed up at those times and places to look. He may have had to wait around until John was born, or even a teenager. Basically just try and do what the second one tried to do in T-2. That would have been hard to cram into a 2 hour movie though.

We had an even more interesting discussion about what the Terminator would have done with his time if he had killed the Linda Hamilton Sarah Connor. And it took us to some dark places.

You will remember from the movie that Skynet had very little knowledge about Sarah Connor. So the Terminator just had to go around waxing the Sarah Connors in the phone book, since they did not know which Sarah Connor was John Connors Mom. So if the Terminator had managed to kill Linda Hamilton, he probably would have just gone on waxing more Sarah Connors. Eventually he would have probably killed so many Sarah Connors that people with the last name of Connor would have stopped naming their daughters Sarah. Then the Terminator would have just waited around for some chick named Sarah Jones to marry someone named Connor, then wax her at the wedding or honeymoon. Or hell, maybe he just would have hacked the marriage license database and got them before the wedding.

Eventually the government would have cottoned on to the fact that Sarah Connors were getting waxed at a pretty steady clip. A clever bunch might have renamed some agents to Sarah Connor to draw him in to an ambush.

Oh you're giving Terminator 3 too much credit my friend.

Skynet sent a Terminator to kill the chick he made out with during a game of spin the bottle in grade nine, and John Connor happened to wipe out on his dirtbike right there for no reason, right when the Terminator was there looking for that woman.

I havent seen the movie in years so ill take your word for it. My point still stands Skynet had future information to track him down in the past. It knew that he would meet kate and by getting close to her (maybe by finding out how they met) it got lucky and found him too. If youre important enough to send a terminator after, you'll leave plenty of crumbs from the present to the future.

th

It always has those....

One other thing that has always bothered me........

How is it that self aware, sentient machines that have developed the technology to build Terminator robots and travel through time don't have the understanding that phased plasma rifles in the 40 watt range were not available in 1984?

I think it would have been awesome if he killed Sarah Conner, but then, like, now what?

The computer/machine takeover doesn't occur for a while. So, it's just, like, a robot kicking it with nothing to do. I would watch that movie. Terminator kills Sarah Conner in the first 10 minutes, then spends the rest of the movie killing time till the apocalypse comes.

Move to Australia. I doubt the T-800 could make it by plane or ship.

He knew the area that she lived in. He tore out the phone book page and started there. Maybe he kills everyone in the local white pages and calls it a day

Or just decides to wage war against humanity in general.

Its not dumb. anyone would tell there mom where they were at. Not to many people in this world could really ghost their family. shit just doesnt happen

To answer your question it would be possible to get away for a while but they would be on the run for the rest of their lives. He could be searching for 10 years and one slip up and theyre toast.

he would never rest
