I'm not talking about someone who gains some regional power, I am speaking of men who gain control of huge portions of the world. Men like Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and Napoleon.
It seems to me that we are in kind of a post-conqueror era. The world just doesn't operate on that sort of wavelength anymore, where a single man could rise to prominence and fight his way to power across vast swaths of the earth. It just doesn't seem like people would put up with that kind of thing in this age.
But I dunno, maybe I'm missing something. What do you guys think? Could we ever see a new Napoleon in the modern-day?
