Could it be that DJ wants Cody instead of TJ?

I know DJ has the injury thing going on and probably wants more $$$ to fight TJ than Pettis did to fight Khabib. But its possible that maybe he sees Cody as an easier fight than TJ and is perhaps hoping for TJ to lose the rematch so he can fight Cody. That would explain why DJ has been ducking TJ so hard for so long.

He could just move up to 135 and get both of them, plus Jimmie Rivera, Marlon Moraes etc...

Or he could keep defending against the Wilson Reis and Ray Borg’s of the flyweight division building his “legacy”.

Cody would make DJ look bad just like what he did to Cruz. Bouncing around and having good cardio is not enough against him.

TJ is more venerable to Cruz' style. Mighty Mouse could create similar problems.

I'm actually predicting that Cody beats TJ, then calls out Mighty Mouse and beats him as well. Would be epic!

To answer your question though, he does seem to be more interested in fighting Garbrandt than fighting Dillashaw. Before Cody lost his championship to TJ, he called out Demetrious first, and Dana shot the fight down saying that Cody needed a couple title defenses at Bantamweight before he'd be interested in booking that fight. But I remember DJ being all for it, and without any of the same type of money demands that he would later try to negotiate with TJ. Does he see or sense something with Cody that he thinks would be easier to exploit than with TJ? I dunno, but it's possible.

TJ is more well-rounded than Cody and has power to go with his well-roundedness. He is a much bigger threat to DJ than Cody is.

Mighty gonna manlet.
