Could GSP have beaten Diaz on the feet

This McGregor/Nate match got me thinking about GSP and Nick (simply because of stature, not skill set). Do you guys think GSP could have beaten Nick Diaz if they stood and boxed the entire time instead of GSP's point fighting? i think recall Diaz landing a string of solid punches on him but my memory is fuzzy I do know GSP won pretty decisively though.
 
Oh yes. The safe route is to put him on his face and punch him while he can't get up, but yes, GSP could most certainly have jabbed the !@#$ out of Diaz' face.

... Diaz's? Diaz' ? Hmm...
 
Nick beats GSP 99 out of 100 times if they fought a boxing match.
GSP beats Nick 99 out of 100 times in MMA.
 
Diaz couldn't open up because he was constantly paranoid of getting taken down.

Pre serra gsp would have gotten destroyed on the feet by diaz. Improved wrestler gsp keeps Diaz more hesitant, which allows gsp more striking opportunities.

So in a stand up fight vs post serra GSP?
 
Assuming they had a striking only costest? Nah i dont think so. He allready sustained alot of damage in the short portions when things got ugly,and Nick would be sure to keep it that way. Even still,the fact that GSP would lose in the standup against Nick means nothing. He could take him down,and keep him honest with the threat of the takedown,and he handily won their fight,in the glorious sport of MMA>
 
In a boxing/kickboxing match Nick wins 10/10
In MMA GSP wins 9/10

why would they stand and box the entire time? Nick's best shot at beating Carlos Condit was when he wrapped up Condit and threatened with a rear naked choke because he's more rounded than he claims to be. Nick nor GSP are boxers, they train in boxing to be better fighters.

anyway, GSP has stood with Condit, Hardy, Alves and broke Kos' orbital.

During the fight in his corner Gsp said he couldn't stand with Nick as the shots were really taking a toll and he was very surprised by the power in which they were landing. I will see if I can find exactly what he said he repeated in his post fight I believe.

I will take it one step further. No fear of take down and willingness to trade and not run Nick Diaz beats almost all opponents in a straight up boxing at his weight class. Go back and watch what he did to lawler who no one thought he could stand and bang with and Robbie had the balls to trade with no retreat. Man I would love to see a rematch!
 
Diaz had a few good moment when standing up vs GSP. Gsp admit Diaz was a better pure boxer than him so.. No?/ Maybe with more leg kick from Georges. idk
 
At some point if the fight GSP tried to exchange with Nick and got tagged with some good ones, so he realized that taking him down was the most intelligent way to beat him.
 
Nate showed more impressive boxing skills in his last fight than Nick has ever displayed imo. And GSP was much faster to the punch against Nick and has better footwork.

The idea Nick has the best boxing in MMA is just bizarre to me.

Pre-serra GSP outwrestled Koscheck. WOuld've been the same fight.
 
Good question. I remember in that fight GSP (I think 3td round- maybe 4th) GSP getting lit up and him going straight to a double.

In pure boxing Diaz is too good for everyone in his weight class.

He dind't stood with Hardy. he was on top of Hardy for 22 minutes on a 25 minutes fight.
 
I once read that delusional is to continue to believe something despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. You GSP haters are truly delusional. He did beat Nick on the feet. He doesn't have a glass chin. Pre-Serra GSP was a violent striker. So was post-Serra - see GSP vs. Fitch. He literally beat the snot out of Fitch.
 
People are really overestimating Nate's B- level boxing skills.
