So I was reading up on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes author) and learned that he became a spiritualist after seeing some photos of two young girls with fairies in them.

Doyle apparently was a fairly erudite fellow. So I'm thinking 'these must be some impressive photos if they're going to dupe this guy'. Now it wasn't just 'this guy' who was duped, but many others thought the Cottingley fairy photos were real.

Hold on to your porridge... because this is the photo (there are others):

I mean come the fuck on.

Imagine the mileage you could get out of the 'severed thumb in a box' trick with this kind of audience.

Think about how many vehemently believe in their religion of choice just because some idiots thousands of years ago crudely wrote it down. Nothing surprises me with people.

These have recently been making the rounds. Taken by a professor in England.

Also a hoax.

Almost as vehement as your anger towards it....
Crudely typed at that.

Doyle DIED in 1930.
How difficult would it really have been to fool people with photography at that time? How would you be able to argue against a photo?
How many people NOW could even explain how photography works?
I wouldn't look too deep into someone falling for a shoop 100 years ago.
Even something as ridiculous as that.

I thought fairies are supposed to fly.
All I see in that pic is some hippie chick posing in front of ornaments on a Christmas tree.
Oh no! Did he think those ornaments were real?

Sure... but there were still many saying these were clearly fake.
