Costco to get rid of their staple most popular Hot Dog in favor of Vegan dishes

Costco is no longer going to sell there Polish hot dogs a very popular item but you can still get the beef dog combo for a buck fitty, and will replace it with more vegan friendly and healthier choice items such as acai bowls, fruits, salads plant based protein, organic burgers instead.

The decision was made to appeal to more of costcos shoppers who filled out suggestion boxes requesting vegan and health conscious items be added to the food court list.

What i dont understand is why get rid of an item that sells and is popular? Why not just keep it on board? It seems like they are replacing the hot dog for more expensive items the organic burger and vegan burgers will likely cost way more than a buck 50.

I agree with the move to a healthier menu, but they should keep the hot dog as a choice.
 
I already hated Costco but would stomach a visit just for a cheap lunch. Now I literally have no reason to ever go there again

Doubt they go through with getting rid of the hot dog. That is like 90% of their business and people are pissed.
 
Why the fuck to people like their hotdogs? Made me sick every time - salty as a bastard and greasy as a whore

I would rather keep the $1.50 and keep my clean pair of pants

The nearest Costco to me is in Wilmington, NC and it's FULL of hipster women who live in yoga pants. If the majority of their customers would rather see vegan / healthier options then Costco would be silly to go against the wishes of their customers. Hot dogs, which can be delicious, are absolute fucking salt bombs anyways, so it's not a big loss for the world. Kind of crazy that this kind of thing qualifies as news now-a-days...but I guess I not only clicked on the thread, but also posted, so fair enough.
 
Why not keep both? Like there isn't enough room in that big ass fucking store for a hot dog rack.
 
I believe that the ever hearty all-beef hot dog/soda combo for $1.50 is still being offered. The Polish weenie can be purchased in BULK. Step away from the the shredder with your membership card.

What about the customers who liked things as they were so didn't suggest any changes? I've seen many places change menus to try to gain new customers only to lose a lot of their regular customers. Many places have a variety of sausage products available on their roller grills.

The nearest Costco is over 70 miles away from me so I've never been to one or eaten anything there.
