Probably, the UFC has wanted Khamzat vs Costa in October since like February or March this year. I think Costa said he wanted to fight sooner than that and then Khamzat was trying to fight Usman.

What probably happened was the UFC tried to make Khamzat vs Usman at WW and gave Costa a new opponent which he accepted then the UFC realized that Khamzat won't fight Usman at WW so they scrapped the idea and told Costa that he's fighting Khamzat in October instead. Khamzat wanting to fight Usman but only at MW seems to have caused this mess.

It’s simple, the UFC couldn’t book Chimaev vs anyone interesting in Abu Dhabi, so they call Costa who is fighting a nobody and probably not doing too great with weight to fight a little later in a far more interesting fight

It's been less than a year since khamzat paulo khamzat paulo either one of them fought.

Yah, both talk more than they fight, but still, it's not like they've been out three years. Hell, Ngannou was out longer, and then he left.

If Costa showz up it will be a perfect storm.

This is the fight to make imo... & after Costa, Khamzat can make his claim to teh title. (not now) I'm not saying it's fair... I'm just saying that Khamzat needz another top contender under his belt before we go for teh title.

Burns was the exception where Khamzat could be boosted to teh top of the division for a title shot, but Khamzat just came in fairly fresh to the top, and so it also makes sense that he has to fight someone prior. Costa is a nice test.

Yes it would, if they want him to fight Khamzat in October they would have to remove him from his currently scheduled fight otherwise run the risk of the fight not happening in October. I don't think you thought this through.
