Thing I miss most is my NFL bar, my Arsenal bar and just walking down the road to meet mates at a brewery. The only social interaction to be had is on Zoom or here/WhatsApp/Facebook etc, I do dearly like a lot of my colleagues but two of the people I'm pretty close to are getting laid off this week. Doing my swede right in.

You're entitled to a selfish rant from time to time, we spend all of our time thinking about and helping others, but this shit still fucks with our heads as well. We'd be stupid not to get some release occasionally

I'm so lucky to have my job but it has turned into pure negativity for 9 hours a day now, I need to let off steam sometimes, but at the same time I can't because I have a job, and for now that's all life has to offer

It seems to be picking up here in comparison, not sure what's changed in the last few days but the UK's been a bit doom and gloom for a while now, Covid aside.
Miss my friends and family and a goo country pub, but that's about it. I doubt I'll ever move back permanently.

I'm seriously tempted to invest some of my savings in re-training in something more specific that might allow me to emigrate for good. Something that would class me as a skilled worker. I cannot be doing with this bleak, miserable, negative island much longer.

Good man, do not blame you whatsoever. Proper jealous, actually, I wish I had a skilled / specialised job that meant I could easily emigrate.

On a somewhat positive note, cases in the UK have pretty much halved in the past week - the past few days have been almost 50% less cases than the same day the week before. Deaths will remain high for another week or so I reckon.

Thing is, if you have some downtime it certainly isn't going to hurt training for a trade of some sort. I'm pretty busy sometimes but managed to pass some pretty hefty exams this last week and am going for my realtor license now I'm sort of in the right head space to study. The time you were used to hanging out isn't happening again any time soon, so it really isn't a bad idea to put that time to good use. Not sure what's happening with visas/green cards here at the moment but you're not too fond of moving here anyway, SE Asia would be an adventure.
