Cormier's poor kick deffence will be downfall vs Jones

I definitely noticed that Mir's body kicks were landing and DC wasn't liking them at all. Jon may not go for many body kicks dude to the TD threat though, whereas Mir was probably encouraging the TD to work his BJJ.

I think Jon's kicks are more speed than power, but they will all add up throughout the fight and I could see him wearing DC down.

Damn. TS honestly changed my view of this fight. Say what you want about Jones but he is a tactician. He will exploit it.

The tides have turned in my prediction tbh.

Cormier will embarrass Jones.....this will be the most one sided ass kicking you city boys have seen in a decade.....prepare for shock and awe.....

Lol at Jones chicken legs doing anything besides hurting himself.

In the Nelson gifs he's moving his upper body more than he normally would because he is making sure the right hand has no chance of landing. Not really expecting or respecting the kicking game of Nelson.

Against Pat he moved away from it, especially well in the first kick. It will serve him a lot better than just eating them like some guys do.

Hopefully he doesn't give up that much of the cage like in the Mir gif.

I agree though that Jones kicks are a huge factor. He's one of the better kickers in the higher weight divisions. He has a lot of variety and if it becomes a long term stand up fight I favor Jones.

It would be unrealistic to assume that Cormier will apply the same kicking defense gameplan vs Jones as he did vs Mir and Nelson.

His goofy kick reactions also could bait his opponent to engage in a grappling exchange.

DC not only gets hit by kicks but he doesn't really counter them either, which is surprsing seeeing how it could be an opening for him to take his opponent down.

I've seen him train with Luke Rockhold and he gets his shit kicked in the same way by Luke.

Cain on the other hand lol... If you try kicking him you're fucked for sure.

Just looks bad trying to balance all that HW girth from HW kicks. Not like he went down in those gifs and got wrecked because of it. Get's knocked off balance, remains standing and won all those fights. Bring the leg kicks muhfuhkuhs...

Jones via TKO (liver kick) in the first minute of the fight ultimately killing the amazing matchup and hype. Fans will be disgruntled and creating "UFC is dead" threads.

Not only poor kick defense but

*Poor cardio
*Slow (compared to Jones)
*Lack of leverage or strength over jones
*Smaller size, will allow jones to use his leverage on cormier and will allow jones to destroy cormier from a distance
*His record vs Heavyweights- while good does not indicate that he can beat the elites of LHW or the elite HW's.

Exactly what they think. I think the only person who can defeat jones at LHW is going to be a faster striker who has great grappling or TDD, and who has a build/style that gives jones problems. That person is Gustafsson and if Gust can't beat Jones in a rematch than Jones has nothing left to prove at LHW and might as well go to HW. Jones is already the GOAT @ LHW after all.

Jones is not an amazing striker therefore elite strikers will scare him and if they are quick and light on their feet and move around a lot like Gust, it will make it near impossible for him to grab ahold of them. Oh and expect people to complain about Jones kicks to the knees for messing up Cormiers knees

So much wrong it's hard to tell if troll.
Cormier has good cardio.
Faster than Jones. Watch Barnett interview video if confused.
Stronger than jones. See heavyweight fights.
A record against top heavies does indicate that he can beat LHW.

I think the kicks of Jones could very well play a role. The big thing is the striking diversty that Jones possesses. He probably won't throw a lot of high kicks early to avoid giving Cormier easy TDs, though. I expect some low leg kicks, the ubiquitous "oblique" kicks that he throws, etc, though. As the fight wears on he will probably throw side kicks or spinning kicks to the body which could end up being quite effective.

Edit: Cormier on the other hand is much more relegated to being a "wrestle-boxer." He doesn't have nearly the same diversity of attack and with his much shorter arms, he is fighting an uphill battle. He is going to have to count on his wrestling, I think, to win this outside of the puncher's chance everyone w/power possesses.

If this fight is less than 3 rounds or one guy wins by flash anything I will be disappointed

He doesn't have the best record checking kicks. Your right to point that out, however, he does have a huge wrestling advantage, strength advantage, speed advantage and boxing advantage. Jones will be in deep trouble once Cormier gets inside. He wont know whether Cormier will shoot or strike. If he blocks hooks he will get taken down. If he gets ready to stop TDs he will get clipped. It will never end. Jones has some power, great accuracy and amazing range. But Cormier is too relentless, too determined, too quick and too strong to get stuck on the outside. He will be a bull in this fight as he has always been.

Jones will be fighting not to lose, not to get clipped, and not to get taken down. Cormier has a massive mental advantage. He has been preparing and wanting this fight for a long time. His life story and the hardships he has overcome to get to this point tell me he will win a dog fight. Jones has heart he showed against Gus (I still think Jones lost that fight), but I really think Cormier will push Jones past that. Cormier will have a bigger heart.

Thats exactly what ive been saying for a while now. He kinda just takes them.
