I picked him to beat Jones, but now I dont know. I think his chances were a whole lot better fighting a rusty Jones who has been out of action for a long time and dealing with the law for the past while. If Jones merks OSP which is very likely the case, he boosts his confidence that much more, lays to rest any "rust" talk, and shifts a ton load more momentum in his favor. Cormier is now gonna be the one coming off an injury, and i honestly cant say id pick him again......well, i might drop a lil if hes even more of an underdog after 197.

And how do u know Bones is rusty? For all we know the Bones at 197 will be the most dangerous version yet.

Hopefully OSP does the unthinkable and KTFOs Jones and flips the division upside down.

10/10 that pudgy whining dude loses to JBJ.

Thats exactly what I thought. And coming off an injury is always harder than getting in shape after a layoff. Jones gained some strenght while Cormier is losing his agility which is a key factor in fighting Jones. I still root for Cormier if they meet again in the octagon.

His chances probably went up. Jon will more than likely do something stupid like physically assault his driver and end up back in court.

fighters have always said that you can train and train, but if you havent fought in a long time, then rust is definitely real.

"There's no such thing as ring rust"

I admit while DC loses these advantages, he gains three more.

1. Training with Cain Velasquez for the fight camp.

2. Seeing updated tape from Jones, so he's no such an unknown factor with the weight training and muscle mass.

3. Hopefully, getting an old injury healed. DC's knee has been an issue for years. He's never been 100%, but hopefully this healing process will give it the time it needs.

I agree that this is good for Bones to knock the proverbial rust off.

If Jones is smart he will take his first opportunity for a takedown and keep OSP there until he can finish him or the end of the fight. He doesnt' need to show anything new in his bag of tricks.

Cormier is like a
PISS FLASK
SHAG BADGER

because he's always up for a good time and brings it. I respect him more fore it.

He doesnt. But the fact that Jones might be rusty increased DCs chances before, and now its gone.

Yes I agree, him no longer being a part of the upcoming fight with Jones significantly decreases his chances of winning that fight.

cormier is a coward. he knows his time will be up soon so he's clutching onto the belt as long as possible so he can tell the grandkids he at least held it a year.
why the fk are you full blown sparring without leg armor, and checking kicks hard enough to shatter your ligaments three weeks before the fight?

BS.

I don't buy into the reasoning presented here, but I do feel Cormier's chances against Jon are diminished now. Primarily because he'll be even older when he finally gets that rematch. DC is old and the longer he waits before the rematch the worse it's going to be for him.

Jones is physically in his prime and if he can stay out of legal trouble and off the coco there's no reason he can't rack up another stack of title fight wins and dominate GOAT discussions for years to come.

I suspect he may try to get a shot at Werdum and the HW strap in the near future.
