Rewatched fight last night and noticed Cormier was very gassed by 2nd round and outside of round 4, all the rounds were very close. Cormier hung in there despite being gassed probably from an adrenaline dump. Jones will and should be the favorite to win, but Cormier has had a couple great back to back fights and I believe he will manage his energy better this time around and he has a legitimate shot at winning this fight, nothing earth shattering that I am posting, just that the first fight was competitive and don't count out Cormier...Hard to see Jones losing but the Gus fight was close too....

Yeah it's very even. But Jones is just...more....even.

It was a competitive, yet straight forward win for Jones. And you are right, Cormier did fade physically after round 2. But IMO this is greatly due to the sheer level of energy it took for him to take a single round from Jones.
Jones is a big, strong guy, and I can't see Cormier beating him at range. I think Cormier will have to fight to his strengths, where Jones himself is no slouch. And this wouldlead to another grueling physical test. Can Cormier improve his ability to maintain stamina in this type of fight with Jones?
Anything can happen, but IMO this is more about what Jones looks like.

I think his gas tank failed due to spending too much effort trying to prove a point by getting a take down on Jon (and failing) coupled with the body shots Jon was landing.

Yes, it's up as a free fight on YouTube if anyone wants to rewards the fight.

Watched it last night and came to the same conclusion. The first three rounds were very close. Jon dominated the fourth with a couple of massive takedowns, but the fifth was pretty close again and DC got a big takedown of his own.

I'd still consider JJ the favorite in the rematch, especially as he has to fight to get the belt back, but after rewatching last night I'm looking forward to a much closer contest than I remembered.

I wonder if sober Jon will be a more dangerous Jon.
Obviously not behind the wheel, but in the octagon.

It was competitive but it's not like DC is adding new wrinkles to his game every fight. Jones was beating him handily before he gassed, while he was gassing, and once he had in fact gassed. It wasn't a blow out but it also wasn't all that close.

Lost nearly every round, got struck and out grappled, wasn't close.

DC "gassed" because of what Jones did to him (body kicks and pressure).

Got cormier winning rematch. Hes stayed active and had two tough tests in gus and rumble. Jones has been a mental trainwreck and hasnt fought in over a year.....i see jones gassing by the 3rd, and possibly even being stopped by dan. Laugh now....place your bets and post if you are confident in your hero.

I think the cormier that fought in the HW grand Prix would have beat Jones but he is a little too old now I think

It was close for 2 rds, then DC faded pretty drastically there after.

I think Cormier can beat Jones if his gas tank can last...but I am not putting a ton of faith into that as he is older etc.

I would like nothing better than for Cormier to TKO Jones..but hard to imagine it happening based off the first fight....DC has to come in with an entirely different gameplan...and he wont be able to train with Cain again...so who knows.

dc is going to get smashed he has nothing for jon jones

For me, this one's hard to call. I simply have no idea how Jones is going to look after his long break. DC is a pro and will come to fight. This clearly Jones' fight to lose.

Jones did next to nothing and still beat him which just goes to show how great Jones is.

Na. i see it being a repeat of the last fight. jones wins with relative ease, cormier might edge a round but will struggle in every facet of the fight overall

The winner was never in doubt in the first fight. I have no doubt who will win this time as well.
