One year out from his 2008 Olympics run, at 30 years old and would fight the supposed greatest mixed martial artist of all time less than 6 years later. As a Cormier fan I didn't even know this. Can you imagine if he came into MMA 5 or 10 years earlier? Even now at 39 he is looking for a new level of greatness in the likes of Stipe Miocic, the greatest UFC heavyweight champion of all time. Win or lose Cormier is one of the greatest mixed martial artists ever and will be looked at as nothing less than a legend of the sport later in time.

Dude is a beast.

Stipe is legit. Great fight. Props to DC.

Similar to Brock who also made his debut at age 30, and 6 out of his 8 opponents were champs or former champs.

One of the G.O.A.T's

Still remember when he made my jaw drop after he cracked Bigfoot's. I couldn't believe it, this man had just destroyed Fedor.

His work ethic makes him a role model.

If my boy ever becomes interested in combat sports, I will show him DC footage as an example.

DC uses his wrestling so well i'm not sure if he'd be better off having quit wrestling 5 years earlier to focus on being well rounded instead. The guy is great, but you never know could have been even better. If he beats Stipe he belongs in the best of all time conversations for me.

Daniel Cormier is awesome man. The guys been through a lot in his life and he just pushed through it. An Olympic athlete and a championship mma fighter. Nothing but hespect for DC.

Dont think it would have made a single difference. People love to use hypotheticals in MMA, oh what if this guy competed in this instead, maybe he's maywaether, etc, or what if this guy started earlier in his career, maybe he's better than Jon Jones, etc.

30 year old isn't that late for MMA, and i doubt he would've been that much better, if at all

When i think about how mma used to so much better a few years back i think of DC and feel a little better. Not just him but chiefly him.

I bet all that high level wrestling helped his MMA.

Yeah I agree with ya there brotha but at least all the fighters were on the same playing field back then.
I didn’t count his last fight because I think it’s bullshit that Brock circumvented the testing that Hunt was subjected to.

Sorry I can't respect an habitual drug cheat.

Honestly though, who is smiling now. Jones has had probably the biggest train wreck of any MMA career and he still has the USADA hearing to get through.
Cormier is a hell of a fighter and i think that he will win against Stipe.
Bad for him, that he will always be second.

I made alot of money with Jones, but i dont want to see him fight anymore. He should let it go. Just keep doing his gear, enjoying coca and have fun. Find another way to make money. Wasted potential.
