Coolest moment from Pride buyout.

Very exciting time!! If there is one fight I could change the outcome off, it would Chuck/Wand. Wish we would have seen in Pride in 03, the build up was so exciting. They brought Chuck in just for that.

Well they definitely acquired the contracts. That was the whole reason why they offered Hunt a buy out rather than honor his 2 fights he had left.
Hunt was one of the very few whose contract was included with the sale of Pride, but the vast majority of the contracts weren't.

It's not the first time the UFC has made some very costly mistakes; Dana had the UFC spend millions of dollars in advertising and promotion in the U.K. before actually securing a television deal, which essentially made those millions spent a complete waste.

Yea. Was great zuffa showed him respect. Wish some of the new fans would educate themselves and watch some of his old scraps
Any specific fights I should brush up on?? I’ve watched mini docs and like twenty of thirty minute of his no time limit match, but it’s hard to pick a specific fight when I wasn’t around at that time

I think all the Gracie fights are worth watching, especially if you can get into the headspace everyone else was in at the time.

Other than that... Newton, White, Rampage and Randleman are good ones from memory.

Don Frye vs takayama if u wanna see some fireworks.

Fedor vs. everyone, his cro cop fight and nogiera fights especially

Shogun vs nogiera

wanderlei Silva vs rampage, both 1 & 2.
That’s a solid start right there

Also there’s a really good doc on the history of Pride called Decade that sums them up really well with a lot of good interviews.

Yea they basically bought the logo and the rights to the catalogue I dont believe any of the fighters contracts were involved. I know Enson has talked about it in the past and the situation with the Yakuza involvement in the deal.
Yakuza conned fritattas

Yea Vadim def has a history. I also know they used Fedor most his career at that time. Which was unfortunate just because of the type of person he seemed to be. Just super humble.

That's probably why they got to use him for so long. It's all speculative, but I would imagine Vadim helped him out a bit earlier in his career. And then exploited him hard for years under the excuse of loyalty and "you owe me". Fedor always seemed good-hearted but also a bit naive, such people can be abused in this way.

These are all must watch fights if you want to see why everyone loves watching Saku. He wasn't the most skilled fighter or biggest, but he had a ton of heart and always put on an exciting perfomance.

Aside from those PRIDE fights, I would also recommend his fights with Smirnovas from HERO'S and his fight with Galesic from DREAM. Those two fights are great as well.
