I was just looking through a boxing book by Joe Frazier and he said that he did his jogging, or roadwork, in construction (work) boots. He said that the extra helped him get stronger and that it provided excellent ankle support. Anyone else ever heard of this? His he right or wrong? What would be the cons of wearing them?

The cons are that your feet would get really, really smelly.

the dude got punched in the face for a living.

My cousin used to play roller hockey without the laces tied.

Built extremely strong ankles during the summer.

Sure you can run with construction boots.

Or you could run in shoes that are actually designed to be ran in. If you need more ankle stability, address that with farmers walks. If you need more strength, then lift more. The cons of wearing them would be you'll run slower and you're much more likely to end up with foot or knee problems.

What is a farmers walk?

There are other ways to address ankle stability, but I like the other benefits farmer's walks offer as well, like grip strength.

You can run in any shoe that is broken in and fits your foot well.

I wonder if the guy who got trashed and ran a 5K in tims last week also read Joe Frazier's book.

True enough. I've run hundreds and hundreds of miles in my boots. They were properly broken in and the right size. Never had a single issue with it.

I cuerrently own a Pait of hiking shoes like the wons in the pic. So they should be fine?

Sounds like hell on the knees. I wouldn't bother, but hey, whatever works for you.

Well i work in the construction trade and i cant wait to get them boots of after work
They weigh a ton and wont be very comfortable because there made to protect not run in :P its just the extra weight with the steel toe caps

I would be concerned with the serious implications of knee problems, but Navy Seals run in boots for miles and miles on the beach during hell week, and those guys are not to be fucked with, so.....
